Early Christmas morning - warm air had descended upon Long Island during the night and created a thick fog where it touched the cold waters of the sound. The highways and streets were completely vacant as I drove to the hospital; the only sounds heard were the clicking of the traffic light control boxes and hum of the tungsten street lamps above. This blanketed, silent world was a perfect time to take some daytime exterior photographs without being told to leave or fined.
I returned for some long exposures during a freezing cold night in February, staying in the deep shadows of the forest. These photos are also included in this gallery.
