Surprisingly, this was the only location we had hit up while in Detroit for the first time... the Book Cadillac and Fort Shelby hotels were undergoing renovations at the time, and we wanted to get out to Chicago under our tight deadline. So on a cold, steely gray day, we headed toward one of the most prominent structures in the city - the train station. The concourse and waiting room rivaled anything I had seen before in terms of vastness, grandiosity and decay. Climbing the office tower, things got quite monotonous at the third floor or so, and so we climbed right to the top to admire the fantastic details put into the upper stonework at a dizzying height. The entire building was incredibly solid, and the roof offered some great views of Detroit and Windsor (although there isn't much to look at across the river there). I hoped to return here for further exploration and documentation - and in later years I certainly have.
