I met my friend Molly in the city; she had a new place up her sleeve to which my friends and I were invited to. Unfortunately it was in a busy part of the metropolis and it was 12:00 midday; police were driving in circles around the block, and the building across the street had security sitting right across from the Mental Health Center. To add to it all, the place was boarded up very tight.
We sat on a bench down the block and watched the cops and the security guards do their rounds, just enjoying the weather since it didn't look like we were getting in any time soon. My friend joked, "The front door is probably open..." Unexpectedly, we watched Molly get up and casually pull open the seemingly boarded front door, and just walk right in! After waiting a minute for an opportune moment, we finally saw a bus pull up and block the view of the security guards, and snuck inside.
We all headed up to the top floor, which held an interesting laboratory, and worked out way down. We explored for about an hour until we hit the third floor or so, and suddenly I smelled something strange, something good, like incense... something not supposed to be in an abandoned building. I stopped walking once I passed a room which had candles burning, bongo music playing, and was packed with assorted personal effects. Needless to say we hurried out as fast as possible.
When we reached the main lobby, we met a man wearing only an old pair of gym shorts, presumably the caretaker. He was startled and asked, "Hey who are you guys?!" We said, "Well, we're... with the movie company. For the documentary," while trying to stuff our gear away in our bags. He replied, "Oh, ok..." He began to turn and walk away, paused, then started saying "Hey, wha...?"
We were out on the street before he could finish.
