Almost Too Late
I saw exterior photos of this hospital online while planning my flight, and even though I knew it was being renovated I made a point to visit this beautiful place. I scoped the place out a bit from a distance; there were construction crews leaving and one security guard, didn't look too difficult.
We made our way around back and found a way to access the main campus, the problem became clear that there was just a ton of open space around the building, and the security guard strolled alongside the place on foot and able to see and hear anything happening inside. Exterior shots looked like a more viable plan rather than seeing an empty and gutted hospital while risking arrest in a foreign country. I crossed my fingers and really hoped we were able to get permission on the spot to shoot the place... and luckily we did.
The guard was a nice guy; he said it would be fine to walk around the outside seeing that we flew out from the United States to see this place. We chatted about the history of the place; he was very proud his ancestors had built this place and that it was going to be put back to use. We weren't allowed inside because of asbestos and dangerous floors (if he only knew where we had been!), so off I went with my exterior shots... there aren't many, but still I hope you enjoy them!
