We don't need more mods, leave the forum as is - 0 (0%)
We need mods, but the popular vote will probably be unqualified / unfair people for the job and chaos will ensue - 7 (18.9%)
We should let the forum die peacefully in its sleep - 1 (2.7%)

I think we need more moderators, with specialized responsibilities.
We might need to do something like approve registrations, 1 or 2 people could do that.

Then we could have 1 or so responsible for deleting spam.

Others could do the "interventions" like Lynne does now.

I'm on almost everyday, so I wouldn't mind doing something simple like deleting spam messages. 


Can something like that be done for the comments in your photo section?  I hate to see them spammed up Sad

Lastly, how the heck have you been?   Grin

I'll throw in for spam detail too; I don't feel comfortable doing what Lynnie does/did, but I can handle spam no problem.  Smiley

dunno if I'd be a mod or not... but I'll help out tagging spambots to be removed from the user database - (they do need to be removed... their comments attract other spambots)

Sorry you wouldn't feel comfy with it Sketch because I think you would do well. I know some of you don't want or don't think you could handle the responsibility. I may be out of line (hope not) in saying this but I feel Sketch, Jude, Bill Door, (just to name a few) would be wonderful candidates. I've seen you guys step in and diffuse situations or handle potentially difficult situations diplomatically.

Of course, I know it is a matter of what you all feel comfortable with but I just wanted to throw my 2 cents out there.  Wink  Whatever the outcome, I do agree that more mods (at SOME level) would be beneficial. Thank you Motts for keeping the forum alive. Although I love your galleries, the forum is a great bonus and it would be sad to lose it.

Same as barb, I check in a lot, and I'm in England. So I could volunteer my time to help combat spam, approve memberships...whatever. If there's anything I can do I'd be happy to help.

Sian, I think it would be wise to have mods from different areas of the globe. That would make for optimal spam bot ejection.  Grin Plus, if you did become a mod, you could take out all your hormonal anger in a constructive way...lol (ahhh pregnancy, how I don't miss it)

That was my thought too; the forum is an evolving place, and if there are too many mods who were here from the start it might stunt it's growth, so to speak.

Yes I saw that before too Colin.     I guess I'll wait until we see what the "categories" are.    I'm certainly willing for someone to teach me how to do some of this stuff as I'd like to help out around here,   but a mod capacity like Lynne's takes a certain kind of person I think only Tom should appoint.    Just my opinion,   for what it's worth!  Cheesy
