Isn't that sacrilegious in your state..?   Wink

I'd love to chase some big-ass storms across the plains and document that.

Yeah i absolutly hate that about this state, it so freaking oriented around the university and football, if we lose a game, everyone here acts like they are at a funeral. Thank goodness we have a hockey team now, or i don't know what i would do. I love going to hockey games they are awsome.

Storms here are great we actually had a darn good active season here last spring. That was the most active it's been since 2004 when that tornado went through and took out Hallam, NE.  Just make sure you have good insurance coverage, cause the baseball size hall will end your car. I haven't been chasing though as much since i had my son, no way i'm putting him in harms way like that. Although when i was pregnant with him we were only 4 miles away and taking cover at a gas station when that the twister that took out Hallam plowed through. OOPS.
That was amazing. The power of those storms just leaves me in awe. The finger of God. His way of reminding me he is large and in charge.

Sounds like you're in SE Nebraska too (I'm one of the two friends Bill Door mentioned).  Phew, there aren't many impressive abandoned places around here, but there are TONS of awesome (and some abandoned) cemeteries.  If you're interested let me know, I can point you in the right direction...  Smiley  Let me know more specifically where you're looking for (PM if you're concerned about privacy) and I'll see what else I can dig up.  To be honest, most of the abandoned stuff I find is farmhouses, and there is no "easy" way to find them, you just drive around until you score...

Hi Gina.  Welcome!
I, too, live in Nebraska and I'm Dr. Sketch's sidekick.  Wink
Yeah, I feel the same way about NE football.  The way you described how people act in this state is almost exactly what I told someone once.   Smiley
I wish there were more abandoned places to check out, but I really haven't come across much except old farmhouses.  It just seems that SE Nebraska doesn't have all that much to offer.  I haven't been out to the western or northern part of the state for a long time, so I don't know if there's much out that way or not.  We've basically tried to concentrate on finding cemeteries around here.  They're really interesting, if you're into that sort of thing.
Good luck with your searching and PM Sketch or me if there's anything we can try to help you with.
Good to meet you!  Smiley

Well, now, it seems while i was in Maine(again) we have a new member. A thousand welcomes to you. We once drove through Nebraska, and stopped at a Museum, that ws connected to a University, and had, I think, LARGE stuffed Mammoth elephant things.. Mammoth Hall I think. Anyhow we liked it.
