Your welcome...it is really strange and eerie to see a place which had such an impact in your life, and the memories of it are so clear and vivid, and this is all that is left.  I never went back here because the fair caused a lot of problems in our extended family, and it just always was a place that wasn't filled with good thoughts for us...anyplace where gambling is involved just isn't a good thing to be associated with (a lot of bad people are mixed up in this.)   It is actually weird that I found these pictures....I love this sight, but never would have thought that a place that had such a close connection to me would be pictured.  That tunnel was actually pretty cool....my brother and I use to play hide and seek in it when the fair wasn't in session....we had the whole fairgrounds to play on.

The Fair did not always have water in the tunnel...at one point it was nice and dry...it is on a floodplain, and with so much rain, it fills up..the CT River turns into the Housatonic River right behind the horse stables (where the firetruck is)..the floodplain is actually one reason why it is so hard to make anything successful here.  I believe they may actually have used that fire truck to wet down the track before the horses ran.  I saw a lot of horses die on this track.   One jockey was killed as well: he fell, and broke his neck.
