I did it once, with Zyban. Lasted a year and a half. Beer, and a few Irixh Car Bombs got me smoking again... Roll Eyes  I have now been off of ciggs for about 2 years, and used the patch for it this time. I didn't even go through the last step! I still feel the pangs, and like the smell....well...SORTA like the smell. It is starting to make me gag sorta....now...but if you REALLY want to, you will...BEST of luck!!!  Grin Grin Grin Grin

I find it strange how people get addicted to that stuff. I've smoked a few packs, and the thing is they were days to weeks inbetween when i would smoke a cigarette. I never got addicted nor do i feel like i need one at any time. It's so weird. I figured i would get hooked quickly seeing as how my dad has smoked for like 40 years or something, and i've been around it since i was born. Only time i really smoke is if i am really angry, or am smoking something other than tobacco Wink.

But honestly best of luck to you. I wish more people would quit smoking, it seems useless. You're doing a real good thing

It sucks being addicted. I've been smoking for exactly 7 months today. So much money goes into the habit, it's unbearable thinking about how much is wasted on nicotine. Unfortunately, i love the calm and peacefulness it brings, but i'm well aware of all the harmful effects it has. I'm hoping that someday in the (hopefully) near future, i can manage to attempt quitting like you are.

Scarecrow, if you see this i know you're gonna disagree with me!!!

Why would i disagree? Its your personal choice to quit just like it is mine to keep smoking.

Only 7 months? Try the patch. You might not need to go past the first step. there are 3 steps.

Try being addicted for 10 years!!!!! But mind over matter. Im giving it an honest effort. I did well yesterday, better tan the day before! I only had one last night before bed. I was not able to sleep cause the cravings got bad. I guess I should take more benadryl to help me fall a sleep.

There's also the option of going down the strength scale of the cigs. I used to smoke a brand called Winfield over here in Oz, I know I said I just went cold turkey, and I did, but I helped to break the habit a bit by doing this too. I'd been considering giving up for like 2 months beforehand. I went from full strength, to milds, to super milds, to ultra milds to the ultra-ultra milds, so it lessened the cravings when I eventually did stop totally. I spent like a week on each lower grading. It was noticeable that when I was smoking the real ultra-ultra's and I bummed a ciggy off a mate once, the milds gave me a MAJOR headspin. It's a bit of a matter of traicking your body somewhat...

Good luck Cristina!

The only time I quit was when I was pregnant with my son. I didn't completely quit when I was pregnant with my daughter...which sickens me.
Hubby and I would like to have another baby so I would like to quit.
I think I'm getting myself prepared because I think about it a lot, how much money I would save and how much healthier I would feel...not to mention my kids....

I'm gonna give your method a try Paul. The next pack I buy is going to be a step down from what I usually smoke. I'm also going to force myself into stepping outside to smoke. I'm a lazy bitch so that'll help me cut down!  Cheesy

If I'm gonna get lung cancer, ass-breath, yellow fingers, stinky hair/smelly clothes then I'm damn well gonna catch a buzz too!
Seriously, I never smoked an entire cigarette because it tastes like ass but I must've smoked at least ten acres of weed. Cigarettes don't bring the boyish grin like a fat spliff of killer green buds do.

  Cheesy  Cheesy  Cheesy  Cheesy

Seriously Cristina I wish you ALL the best luck honey,  this can be a real bitch.   I've been addicted for almost 40 years now and I wish I'd never ever started.    The more years you've been filling your lungs with them,  the harder it is to quit too.

Don't beat yourself up if you cave,  just try again.
