Of course we do; we're people just like anyone else, and suffer the same things as others.  Hell, one of the most messed up people I ever met was a psychiatrist.  Listening to other people's problems all day finally got to him...

Our family Dok not only developed mental problems but also got really big into the self medication end of it and eventually landed himself into some really big trouble over the Rx abuse and eventually lost his license along with his practice.

I have 3 aunts I'm not close to, ok/good people, the pill poppin nurses that they are.

It takes alot of strength and juggling skills to have a job with that much responsibility.

I read an article recently about how doctors themselves rarely go see doctors...I think it was an article about how a person was an MD and found out they had some sort of serious illness, and never saw themselves as "a patient". It said how they would get the flu, and go to work because they weren't as sick as a "patient", plus the world depended on them.

Dr. Sketch is right-People are people- no matter what their occupation and you never know what's going on in people's lives, or who they are.

So what do Doctors do to relieve stress?  Is there some kind of support for them on staff?

In my home town a Dr. who I knew committed suicide about 5 yr.s ago he had 3 child his wife and him had a large pratice with other Dr.s very loved by the commuity. One weekend while her family was in town he drove to the next town and rented a room and overdosed. I was later told that he had manic depression and she tried to keep an eye on him when he was in depressive or manic moods. I still find it hard to believe that he is gone his oldest son was going to graduate from high school that yr.  I can't remember but I think this happened in Oct.  Our Town in norther Mi  has no Psycatric care at all no therapist or anything his wife told me to stay where I'm living because there is no help there.
I'm re-reading the book gracefully insane they talk about a Dr. shein  a dr on staff at mclean hospital  they talk about some student who also committed sucide.  A must read!

a good friend of mine is a nurse, he has a few physical things wrong with him (something to do with his immune system), pretty bad anxiety problems, throw in some depression, and hes the worst hypochondriac i know...

also a side note, i was talking to him about the demolition of WSH and he told me he did his residency there.

My family doctor admitted to me years ago that he suffered from deep depression. It helped as he knew exactly how I was feeling. Helped my treatment too as he was interested in how I could deal with it naturally... we ended up learning alot from the whole thing. It was the only time I felt my doctor had become a friend rather than someone I had to see.

Unfortuantely some have it and think they don't. It is sad.
