I just re-coded all my pages that open a larger version in a new window so people couldn't grab my work so easily....a friend suggested it when she saw one of my pics hanging on a wall in an office.  Grrr!  I like the exposure, but will I get the credit?  Probably not!

We were all discussing copyright law the other night, I wonder if there is an affordable way to copyright such a large amount of images?

And I'm with Motts on the watermark thing; the only acceptable version of a watermark I have seen was one that didn't show up until you moused over it.  Still a hassle though!

THE NAME OF THE ASYLUM IN THE MUSIC VIDEO IS RANDAL PATRICK AND ITS LOCATED IN PROVIDENCE RHODE ISLAND BUILD IN 1886 CLOSED IN 1970.
case 1322 the women was 18 years old and it was admited in 1948 her name was laura dayne ...  and during the video there is a voice that reads the medical file of the women in question ... she belived that 4 children lived in her room. laura was used to experiment some kind of new drug combined with electro shock therapy, wich during 3 weeks was aplied 12 times after therapy she would not be able to dress herself or even go to the bathroom, the voice gives importance to the fact that her smile was fading ... but the medical file says she was getting better in response to the therapy. in the last entrance on the medical file the doctor writes that the is cured and capable of taking her place back in society ... she was sent to her parents never to be heard of her again.

this is what you can hear together with the music and lyric

"built in 1886 in the outskirts of providence rhode island
the randal patrick sanatorium knowned for its breakthrew
methods in the treatment of mental illness was shut down
in 1970.its currently under investigation for forcing
experimental therapy on to patients. Case 1322 laura dayne
was admited in 1948 her parents awoke one night to the sound
of a conversation there was no one there she was 18.
the diagnosis was schizofrenia laura believed that 4 children
lived in her bedroom. several interview sessions where conducted
by doctor carlson clapham lee disturbing conclusions where made.
during session 3 laura was asked if she believed that her friends
really existed ... the patient did not understand the question.
a knew and promissing experimantal formula was ready for testing
beta-methrazol. laura became a pionneer together with 9 other
subjects. during session 8 one of the question read :
"you havent sleeped for 3 days laura are your friends keeping you awake ?"
her answer was very fragmented has was all her speech at that time.
an intriguing failure in motor coordination could be observed when she performed
more complex phisical activities 5 other inmates showed the same symptoms they
where also injected with the formula containing beta-methrazol.
electro shocks also knowned as electro convulsive therapy E.C.T.
where considered necessary they can best be described as an electric charge
that flows like water threw the cranial box. a breaf shock of less than 2 seconds
that puts the patient´s conscience to sleep as the body convulses.
laura had 12 electro shock sessions in 3 weeks and started to show clear signs
of improvement. one by one her imaginary friends faded she was finaly able to
see it. side effects included prostration, desorientation and long spells of
amnesia, by that time laura had periods when she wasnt able to put her own
clothe on or go to the bathroom without assistance. slowly her smile faded,
as well as the ability to show complex emotions, she stopped talking entirely  
a month before her 20th birthday E.C.T. sessions ended 1 week later.
the final entry on her file reads: "the patient shows stability and restrain
and seems fit to return to her place in society ". laura was released in to her parents
custody and never heard from again. in 1970 the randal patrick sanatorium closed due to
government cutbacks. the mental health reform act imposed limits on new admitions
to state mental hospitals encoraging the transition to a community based system.
a theory never proved claims that one of laura´s imaginary friends was in fact ... herself. "

Oh yeah, I see that now.  Hadn't noticed, thanks for pointing that out.

I wonder if an explorer had actually stumbled upon a case study as depicted?  Metrazol had been in existance for over decade and was hardly "new" in 1948.  One shot appears to show a 16mm film can with what may be a Super 8mm reel of film.  If so, the 8mm format did exist until the 60s.  It's not the 9.5mm that existed at that time.  Just me examining details, that's all.

Overall an excellent effort, and not far from the realities of the era it depicts.  My compliments to the creator, who, in all fairness, makes no claims that it depicts actual occurances.

well ... i must assume that the director of the video must had seen " session 9 " looked for some info on the web and came across Motts work that he eventually used in the making of the video ... what i dont understand is why the first image of the hospital was edited since he used other originals from Motts.and didnt change them and ... why would he use that one photo in question if there are several ones that look more to the final edit that shows in the video ( with the tower in the middle )

the point is that they used real location real people ... and changed the names, i wonder if with the case in question the same thing happens

From the comments here, the producer of the video could have contacted the photographers and may have been able to get permission just for giving credit, and a modest donation to their web sites would have been a nice gesture.  Motts would be the one to answer any questions there however.

When many of these types of institutions closed, it seems as though much was left intact by apathetic government officials, including patient records in some cases.  Fabricating the video in question here is definately not impossible, but the old looking records do look very convincing as far the possibility of them being authentic.  Interesting cameo appearance of "Ice Pick Wally" injected too.

It would be interesting the hear the director's story as far as the making of this video.  That is (obviously) Rui de Brito, SubFilmes, Lisbon, Portugal.

Regarding the film itself, he said:

My inspiration for the ambience of the video was SESSION 9 for the abandoned sanatorium and RINGU (the original version of THE RING) for the little girl (the comments on your forum are right) but the real story that inspired me is from the film TARNATION directed by Jonathan Caouette (2003) about him and her mother struggle with mental illness.
 
The story of Laura Dayne that appears in my video is fictioned and all the documents are fake... and some of the stills used are yours.
 
The rest of the footage with the actors was filmed in an abandoned wing of an active Lisbon mental hospital.
 
What happened then was that, for the introduction of the documentary we needed some stills of a real big american like state sanatorium to give credibility to the script
