Yeah, the day's upon us. 8/29/07- Weston State Hospital is being sold to commercial interests. I'll post more info when I know it.

In observance of her last night as a state-owned entity, here's a few photos from my last couple visits...

Next few are from another day. I stopped by one evening to talk to the head of security about some new ownership related stuff... and what kind of photographer would I be if I went to a Kirkbride without my camera? On this day, it'd rained all day and was quite hazy.

16. Compare with the photo above... she's still ticking!

And now a more grim task... the dreaded Danvers-type map. I really, really hope I won't have to start shading pieces that dreaded shade of red... but reality is, I'll probably have to. Sad

Good luck, my lady.

Nice photos. I love the architecture of that place. Reminds me of some castle or something, especially that last shot. Beautiful

Fantastic about the Kirkbride!  I love your photos!  They are fabulous.  The light on the clock tower at night and the reflection of the building in the water are photos that really stand out!  And the flowers are spectacular.

That's awesome!  Smiley Hopefully "plans to" will translate into "finds it economically feasible to."  Undecided

I think that is one of the many benefits of photography: as you search for subjects you begin to realize that objects of beauty were around you all along and you never took the time to really notice.
