I finally got around to seeing "Fight Club" - it has a pretty cheesy dilapidated house that Brad Pitt's character lives in. I feel dumber having watched the movie.

A russian movie about abandonments is Stalker. It is about Turgunska (sorry if I didnt write it properly)where the meteoryte fell in 1908, in the zone of Siberia.
And I remember that Duke Nukem 3d has a level in an abandoned city.

A new "abandoned" discovery in the movies...

FLASHLDANCE!

Michael Nouri (Nick Hurley in the movie) takes Jennifer Beals (Alex) to the "abandoned steel mill" for their "first date." (the scene where she's running through the old warehouse and up to the TALL 10th floor of the abandoned building)

It was on VH-1 Classic tonight when I noticed it and thought, "HEY!  UE!" when I saw it.

Since that movie was released OVER 20 years ago, (GASP!) I'd tend to doubt that cool old building would still be there to see if it was abandoned at the time.  Looked neat with its Victorian-looking "stencil" stairs (not sure what that's called when the risers are ornate) and massive 20-foot(?) high floors.

Dr Who has featured a hew abandonments over the years, the most recent being the episode Blink.

The original series story The Invasion Of Time used adandoned sections of St Anne's Hospital in Redhill, Surrey.

Movies:  The Abandoned, Silent Hill, Death Tunnel, Boo!

I live in the town where Silent Hill was filmed!!
I can go out tonight and take some pics... they have really built it up since the movie was filmed there but the funny part is the sets that were downtown were BETTER than the downtown itself!
The mayor(s) over the past 22 years have talked about revitalizing it over and over again but nothing was done til last year.

Great for UE but the cops patrol the alley ways so hard to sneak around. And lots of bad asses around all the time to.

OK here ya go... what the set of Silent hill looks like on Sunday afternoon lol
The set was unbelieveable! I lost my photos when I moved the 2nd to last time. I was pissed!
Anyways... welcome to the "Worst downtown in Canada" as quoted by the Global & Mail in 1994! (Not much has improved since then)
1 Some new additions since Silent Hill...but still pretty much the same crappy Colborne St.

2

3 The boarded up building was hit by arson in 1993. It was an old theatre that hasnt been used since the late 60's

4

5

6 The "County Archives" aka The Brantford Expositor

7 The "Grand hotel" enterance... actually it is the Continuing Education building or once was.

8 A shot looking the opposite way down Colborne...
