That's the hard part Kadee, is trying to decide what distration is the right one. I will get up and walk around.
(I have to re make my poi, otherwise I'd be doing that.)

I would try getting outside immediately after dinner and going for a walk. Let the dishes and clean up wait if you can, and take a walk outside of the house until the urge passes. Stormy's idea of the straws isn't a bad one either, I have heard of that before.

Okay, I'm done, I'm ticked....
I have a co-worker who is
always
"sick"
Yesterday it was a forced cough because she had 'bronchitis" today, it's nausea.... Monday it was cysts on her ovaries or some crap.
She's constantly going home sick, coming in late...etc...etc...
Ya know what.. I don't feel good either. My hands are shaky, my head hurts, but ya know... I'm working on beating an addiction. Of course I am going to feel liked garbage..
But, I'm at work. Feeling lousy, edgy, wanting a cigarette, short tempered and ya know... I'm sitting here doing my job.. Not going home because I am in the middle of the throes of a nic fit from hell..

Lyric hun, breath deep, relax for a second, we're here with ya. I have a guy at work like that too; he's been here one day this week, and that was only a half day. Today I'm running two departments by myself, because the person who runs the other department is taking a well-deserved vacation day, and I would feel horrible if I made her come in just because the other guy was "sick". Don't let some dumbass ruin your good streak of not smoking; she isn't worth ruining your health over.

Lyric, just picture all the Asshats lined up kicking that co-worker of yours in the shins and about the head. And that's AFTER all the same Asshats line up to give you big ol' hugs!
Hang in there hon, you're getting through the very worst of it right now!

When my mother quit smoking (about 5 years before I came along) she came up with a very innovative method of quitting. Two "activities" that helped her wean off of cigarettes...forever.
First, she kept a journal, documenting when she smoked a cigarette and how it tasted (for example, "3pm, tasted ok." or "9:46, tasted gross.") and every couple of days, she'd eliminate the one time of day where the taste was consistently disgusting/least appealing.
Second, once she got down to a more sporadic frequency of smoking, she would deliberately keep her pack of cigarettes in the most INconvenient place. She lived in a high rise apartment building and might leave the pack in her mailbox downstairs...or on some obscure shelf in the kitchen...so that it would be more of a chore to smoke since the pack wasn't readily handy.
It's been nearly 40 years since she quit and never once relapsed.
KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!!! Patience and self-discipline are the key to success.

I was a smoker (weed + marlboro) since 15 years. I'm almost 30. I tried to quit a bunch of time, never worked more than 1 week. Tried everything. Seriously addicted.
But now I'm on tracks, stopped everything since 1 month. Zyban rules. OK, some say its not covered by insurance. But I don't care of spending 75euro, bout 100us$, for quitting.
Its the first time I do not NEED tobacco. That's a weird and pleasant feeling...
Cheers, Slyv

this might not work for everyone but when I quit with my son I carried 20 cigs and a lighter EVERYWHERE! A month before I was due I gave them to my father-in-law.
Thats when I started getting stressy, its like having them near was a sort of comfort to me!!!
I relapsed when I went into labour. I was kinda traumatised by the start of the induction and snatched my grandmothers fags as soon as I was allowed to go walkabouts!

Thanks you guys!
There was something about day 3, that was BAD.. Today, right at the moment, it's not so bad.
The current withdrawal I am dealing with, is a sore throat, with the occasional frog in it.

From all of the research I have done, I understand that no matter how much or how long you smoked, the nicotine is COMPLETELY out of your system in 72 hours.
You are doing GREAT! Hang in there, I am proud of you.

Thank you!
Today is much better, I feel far less agitated and less likely to say 'screw it" and go get a pack of smokes.
Over the weekend, my old Health Rider is coming up from the garage to get dusted off and put in the living room.
My goal is to use it at the very least every other day.
From there... We'll see.
