Instead of posting photos of the asylums/hospitals/mansions/hotels/ ect, why not post pictures of when they were in operation? See what everyone can come up with. From browsing the net, I will start with Mayview State Hospital in Bridgeville, PA. These are not my photos, so I don't take any of the credit. I just find it very interesting seeing 100 year old photos and thinking of how they ran such places with the technology they had at that time.

I have photos of Dixmont I will have to post when I get home from work. I am glad I saved the photos from another website before it got shut down.

A video I discovered of Dixmont just today! http://www.wqed.org/tv/watch/onq/?id=806

The video was outstanding.  I really enjoyed that.  And the photos - seeing the buildings in use before abandonment took its toll.  Thank you for posting this.

Don't judge me unless you have looked through my eyes, experienced what I have and cried as many tears as me.  Until then back off, cause you have no idea.

Always love seeing these especially if there are nurses in the pictures.   Reminds me of how far we have come.
