I picked up this book because the cover art looks very much like a picture in one of the Motts European galleries.  Anyway, having bought it, I thought I should read it. The story does feature an abandoned Military/Physchiatric hospital built specifically for soldiers with head wounds during WWI. Face wounds in particular.  Very gruesome.  It is basically a detective story with a lot of supernatural elements and mentally wounded characters that come together to solve the mystery. It does involve child abuse and human slavery.  Just a warning.  Anyway, I rather liked the book.  It does get a little bit carried away in the end, but interesting nonetheless.  Check it out.  I can't remember where I bought it and have not seen it since.

Sounds like a fascinating read.  You had me at "supernatural" and "abandoned" and "psychiatric hospital," LOL, but I'm also fascinated with WWI-related history, so there you go.  Grin  I'll definitely check this one out.
