This site manufactured flavoring extracts for soda, lacquers, explosives, colors, and specialized coatings. It seemed to be on fire quite a lot (1915, 1919, 1928, and again in 1975), and to this day stands as a few burned out shells of buildings. It closed in 1990, and has been a Superfund site ever since.
