Movie "Road to Wellville"....based on Jackson Sanatorium?

I watched a documentary on Jackson Sanatorium today, and was telling my boyfriend that it reminded me of a Matthew Broderick movie called Road To Wellville. I thought that the similarities were uncanny. The original owner was famous for inventing the first cold cereal, the different treatment methods used on the guests for therapy and of couse "Wellville" the name of the place in the movie and the site of Jackson in "Dansville".
I was also curious, after reading your history on the property that Dansville was given Federal Grant money for renovating the building, however it doesn't seem like they're doing anything. It would make a great Museum!

The Road to Wellville was based on RJ Kellogg and his sanatorium in Battle Creek, MI in the 1890s.

I did read that, but it's unusual the similarities between the two. I'll have to read up on the one in Battle Creek.
I seen the article about part of the Jackson building collapsing last spring, guess that explains whether they are going to use the grant money to renovate the place.

Went to a site for Battle Creek, and yup that definately looks like the place in the movie, and may I say WOW to the history of that place. The site I visited had a ton of photos before and after the fire there and up til present day. Very interesting, thanks for the tip. One this I did notice of that site was they had a Barnarr MacFadden Sanatorium listed on one of the photos (it was a cobblestone building) I am going to guess that whoever originally labeled that postcard got the place wrong.
