Ah Kings Park Psychiatric. A place that's been in the back of my mind since I even knew what the term "urban exploring" even was back in high school. Hulking mid-century brick and steel, cold and impersonal, unforgiving compared to the complex and colorful minds it was built to treat. Large, expansive, we seemed to tunnel endlessly from one building to another, climbing rickety ladders and pipes, up elevator shafts and down through manholes, in the silent swarm of dust that seemed to coat anything it could down there.

We spent two days covering ground, freezing our asses off seeing both the highlight tourist attractions and some of the lesser known gems. Enjoy part 1

Fascinating to witness the progression of decay with every new gallery of KPPC. Building 93 is impressive in size and architecture. This is an amazing set. Loved the details captured.

I love #7  and note how the sky color and the peeling paint in #8 match so well.
Great set thanks for posting.

the size of such facilities are monumental!
and to gain access via unconventional means like elevator ladders are my speciality! Beautiful glass pics. so abstract!!! 3, 6, 7 and 13
Don't you just love the old classics that ones youth consisted of...

Totally immense building! Completely at odds with the 'splendid isolation' theory propagated over here in the early 1900s

Kickass. I dig 3 and 7. I still haven't been there either.

Real nice, this place has a lot to offer someone who hasn't been there before.  My favorite shot of the set is 13.

#7 for the win!  This place seems to glow in the light.  Awesome.  What a fantastic building.

Don't judge me unless you have looked through my eyes, experienced what I have and cried as many tears as me.  Until then back off, cause you have no idea.

Awesome set SC. I have been meaning to get over here for some time. Did you see any signs that the recent demo threats are coming to fruition?

Not one bit. From what I was told, Parks won't have nearly any of the money needed to tackle it, the abatement cost alone is huge
