Alrighty, here is the list for the 2012 competitions.
Some are member's choice, some are member inspired, some are from my kids
We tried to mix it up a bit and tried to keep it fun but a bit of a challenge. Hope you all agree with the choices.

January... the winter where ever you are.
February... Emotion (pick an emotion)
March... Shiny things
April... On the edge
May... favorite things
June... Nature shots of living things
July... Askew View
August... Transportation
September... black and white
October... Good Ol' Rust
November... 4am
December... as the world ends (I don't think it will though or there will be no competition)


The rules stay the same... pretty much.
1) Photo competition will run every month on the last Friday of the month.
2) Entrants may post up to, and only up to 3 photographs per contest (1 or 2 only is fine).
3) Each photo must be an original and taken BY the member posting the photos.
4) Once entries are CLOSED no more photos are to be submitted.
5) Voting will take place over a 72 hours (give or take an hour or two) period and results will be posted in the competition thread.
6) PLEASE be respectful of other photographers during the competition, keep any comments 'til after the results have been posted.
7) PLEASE keep all submissions PG 13! That means no nudity, extreme violence or paraphernalia! Many members view this site from work and some have children... let's keep viewing open to all!

Two questions...

1.  What if your area really isn't experiencing WINTER at the moment?  Can we post winter photos from some other winter?

2. If we choose an emotion, should all three photos reflect it or can they be of different emotions?

Winter "where ever you are" so it is meant to show what your winter has been like. the original theme was supposed to be snow and ice but, we don't seem to have any anywhere close by, so I changed it.

Emotion. Pick an emotion. An old building falling apart might be sad or lonely. A balloon floating away might be happy or relief. Pick 3 emotions, pick one pick a couple for each shot. Get creative

Sus,  I don't think it should be a problem to post pics we took previously,  often I take photos waaaaay ahead of time for contests,   and though I mostly use stuff I took just for the contest,  sometimes I have a photo I took awhile back that is perfect for a contest later.     As long as it is our own photo!

I am new to this web site (fantastic web site by the way!). Where do I post the photos for this months competition? There seems to be no link to it on this page.

The last Friday of each month,   there will be a new thread posted saying something like "February Photo Comp",    so watch for it next Friday Feb. 24th.    The theme will be posted,  you have to post something along the lines of the theme,    3 photos maximum,  and they have to be your own photography.
