It has been a while since I posted anything worthwhile, and since this isn't an abandoned structure (and I hope it never is) I thought I would post these here.

Enjoy the sights of the historic Paramount Theater in Indiana.

Don't judge me unless you have looked through my eyes, experienced what I have and cried as many tears as me.  Until then back off, cause you have no idea.

Reminds me of the Fox Theater in Atlanta ~

Incredible theater!! It's great to see a historic building preserved and being used the way it was designed to be used. Thank you to those in Indiana who kept this grand old lady in pristine condition over the decades. See? It can be done. Not every old structure has to be bulldozed.  Smiley

Here is the setlist:
Clouds
Cinamon Love
Waiting For The Sun
Closer To Your Side
Two Hearts
Standout In the Pouring Rain
She Walks In So Many Ways
Blue
Hide Your Colors
Tampa To Tulsa
I'd Runaway
Mockingbird Time
Miss Williams Guitar
Angelyne
Tiny Arrows
Bad Time
Encore
Love Hurts
How Can I Send Tonight
Settled Down Like Rain
Martin's Song

Tift Merrit opened with a lovely set of new songs. Just her, a bass player, and Eric Heywood.

The Paramount is a great place to listen to live music. It is an old movie theater from 1930s complete with a once segregated balcony. Fantastic acoustics and the band sounded really superb because of it. A polite but enthusiatic crowd of 700 to 800. Most folks there were old enough to be my parents but they really responded to the Jayhawks. Even some old timers dancing and the band loved it. The songs from Mockingbird Time were fantastic. The title song Mockingbird Time was just awesome. Eric Heywood came on stage to perform the pedal steel on Tiny Arrows. Just awesome work from Eric tonight. A decidely pro Rainy Day crowd. Standing ovation for I'd Runaway. I thought She Walks In So Many Ways and Closer to Your Side were very good and tight. Stand Out In The Pouring Rain was fantastic. It was cool to hear some Creekdippers! The band was very enthusiastic about How Can I Send Tonight and Karen is way better than Vic every night. The caper might have been Love Hurts. I thought Mark and Gary hit it just right and that is a tough duet to sing. Eric Heywood had a gorgeous solo during that song. Audience knew it and applauded without a cue. The encore sort of died out with the last two songs. The band was tired and it has been a long tour and its Sunday night so I understand. I saw Stephen McCarthy in the lobby! Too bad he couldn't have made a cameo appereance. From the balcony I was surprised how many people were on Spacebook during the show. All in all a fantastic night that far exceeded my expectations. One final note: The band needs to stay together and keep going. Perleman, Tim, and Karen were the steady backbone of the sound tonight and Gary and Mark just are at the peak of their long music careers right now.

So glad you all enjoy the photos. The pictures do know justice. Just to walk around this place is amazing. The owner/operator gave me a personal grand tour of the place...even the basement dressing rooms which had an ambiance of their own.
