Full Isolation Hospital Set

Near Newark, NJ lies the last remaining buildings of a large complex known as the Essex County Isolation Hospital. The 8 story childrens ward is only half vacant (NJ cancer research center owns the other side) and is incredibly risky to visit. We saw cops going to our exit point right after we left. They didn't harass us though. The other 2 buildings on the property that were abandoned are now renovated. Cool place (on the outside anyway). Enjoy.

I like all the pastel colors. "Half" abandoned places are always risky. Ever heard of Athens Lunatic Asylum? Lower floors are an art museum, and upper floors are an abandoned asylum.

Yup, most of it is renovated except for TB ward and most of the main Kirkbride building (Bottom floor is the Kennedy Art Museum) the upper floors and wings are abandoned. I hope Motts checks it out some day. If not I will.

That brings back memories. There were some medium sized buildings behind it which were demoed. Those were the first abandoned hospital buildings I ever visited, 10 years ago and dozens of hospitals later...
This is what was behind it:

I'm still on the edge of whether I want to go there or not. It's a stone's throw from my office but I hear it's pretty desolate. From the pictures it looks that way, but you've done the place justice.
Maybe I'll change my mind.

This place is huge! Are they going to try renovation? Awfully big building to let go to waste or use halfway.
