Hey guys, just wanted to pass this on to anyone with comcast cable, there is a special on On-Demand, under wgbh-pbs( it's in the history section of the main menu) there is a special on Dr. Freeman, the icepick lobotomy originator.
It's got some old footage of him in alot of the old hospitals and sheds some light on the practice and the man behind the movement. I have to say, I was turned somewhat in my judgment of the whole process and Freeman himself. It seems he really was looking for a way to stop the overcrowding in the asylums and (in the beginning) really looking for a way to treat the patients and let them become more than refuse hidden away or slated to be so.
just my personal review, but i suggest to anyone interested in the functioning of these beautiful places we love to explore and the lives of those spent within them to check it out.

I just watched it online. It really give a new perspective on it. He really thought he was helping the people, not hurting them. Excellent program.

Don't judge me unless you have looked through my eyes, experienced what I have and cried as many tears as me. Until then back off, cause you have no idea.
