I wish I had the money to purchase Pennhurst. I would have actually took the time out to remodel the asylum, then turn it into a museum. What these people are doing... is a shame.

But it looks like the Pennhurst Memorial & Preservation Alliance is planning something totally different that we may approve on :-)

This is joke, right?

Haven't made it to Pennhurst yet, but it's next on a short list.  Seems odd that the Memorial and Preservation Alliance makes NO mention of this on their website.

It's owned by the Pennhurst Acquisition. A lame way to make some dead presidnts for the winter.
Security  is in high swing there.

Good luck. Place is locked down tight. And there's no vegetation or trees to use as cover anymore. That and the fact that all but two windows max are sealed on the property.

Place hasn't been worth doing for a long time now. Just another sad chapter.

No problem. Just be careful. Fine's up to $1000 minimum now.

Did anybody tell Motts that they are marketing their "product" via using his copyrighted images?

http://www.opacity.us/image1790_welcoming.htm (compare to main image from pennhurstalive.com).

The address on the website for the "Institute of Fear" is located at One Veterans Way... in reference to the adjacent active Veterans Administration (VA) facility. Statistically speaking, although everybody at the Spring City VA may not necessarily be actively treated/diagnosed with such, the majority of veterans return from war psychologically damaged. As if 18 veteran suicides a day is bad enough, now the broken, vulnerable veterans at Spring City VA have to endure the indignities of being portrayed like this (http://pennhurstalive.com/images/7.JPG) in their own backyard?

If any of this bothers you as much as it bothers me, I urge you to write to local politicians. As a mental health advocate and a survivor of suicide (nevertheless, that of a veteran), I am going to the press, politicians, and the general public as soon as I finish up some research. I plan on setting up an information resource for concerned mental health advocates, survivors of suicide, veterans and friends of veterans, concerned citizens and patriots on how we can adequately disrupt the going rate of this operation.

Contact information for local politicians:
General- http://contactingthecongress.org/cgi-bin/newseek.cgi?site=ctc&state=pa
State Senator Dinniman- http://www.senatordinniman.com/
Spring City Contact Sheet- http://www.springcitypa.net/mail.htm
East Vincent Township contact information- http://www.eastvincent.org/index.asp?Type=DYNAFORM&SEC={CEDEA293-3453-4A03-B5BF-4DECA12995F1}

Thanks for pointing this out!  I'll get in touch with Motts and let him know.

Sorry, I wrote this in the previous Pennhurst thread but 'Pennhurst Haunt' is opening the last weekend of September.

Interested in what they have in mind? Here is a teaser:
