I can't even begin to imagine the emotional and physical stresses these men encounter in war. All I know and understand is that it takes MUCH less stress in my everyday life (and millions of others like me) to send me into panic attacks and body trembles that won't stop. One good scare can do it ~ and yet these poor souls live in a terror filled situation 24/7 and are branded cowards when their minds and bodies give out because of it.
The generals and commanders would have been in the same shape had they been made to do the same jobs as the "cowards" on a daily basis.
It's so terribly sad.

i have a History Channel magazine that has a story about the french woman who made plaster masks for the WWI veterans seeing the before and after is quite remarkable. the guy trying to sit in the chair is very disturbing to me personally because my CP causes spasms like that in my legs.

The book All Quiet on the Western Front, by Erich Maria Remarque is a very good book. The most devastating 207 pages I've ever read.
