Wow sensational beauty!

The stone work is so amazing and delicate, sad to see it eroding away like it is but it's also symbolic of a graveyard. Great shots Motts.

The fact that that glass remains intact is absolutely amazing.

Oh my goodness, Motts. Stunning gallery! What a beautiful cemetary which you did justice to with your work. I love every single one of these pictures. That glass enclosed cacket is unbelieveable, I have never seen anything like it. Thanks for sharing this location with us!

Spectacular set, Mr. Motts. B&W sets the perfect mood. The glass encased sarcophagus is simply beautiful. Loved the vine covered tree.

I agree, I like cemeteries and the glass casket is awesome. I want one like that when I get buried. but maybe with some neon. lol

Very nice photographs indeed. That's a very old cemetery with some exceptional stonework. That kind of workmanship is going by the wayside with chemical etching and laser cutting being the pre-eminent method of stonework for cemeteries.

Well done.

Timeless beauty, and it's nice to see those who rest here given respect.
That is no vandalism or graffiti.
The artwork and architecture seem so peaceful yet majestic.

Another great gallery, thanks Mr. Motts. Your lovely photos do justice and honour to the dead. The one with the glass and the roses is just beautiful, and your closeup shot of the roses is wonderful. Thanks for showing this to us.

These are just gorgeous! The casket in the glass is amazing. I can't believe no one has vandalized that. Those roses are so beautiful. This is a fabulous set.

ah Motts roaming around my home state-LOTS to see and even older cemetaries
wanderer
Ahhh you have the best cemeterys over there in the states!, in sweden we often replace old stones and graves with new fresh corpses and headstones. Wonderful looking gallery Mots.

the Ir, season, and subjects blended well with each other. awesome set. amazing how the statues are worn by the years of weather. i guess nothing lasts forever, not even our graves. thanks.

I used to live across the street from a beautiful old cemetary in Woonsocket, RI and I remember taking my trusty old Canon AE1 with a roll of black and white film and finding something new to shot every single time. Nothing works like black and white for cemetary photos and there are so many angles and light conditions to explore its amazing. I live in TX now and we don't have cemetaries like that here.

Odd tidbits, John Wilkes Booth was supposedly interred here in an unmarked grave and the only 2 known Greenmount red roses are planted or the progeny of a rose that was probably created by a gardener at Greenmount in 1854.

I wish i could lie in this cemetery.

Simply amazing. So beautiful.

I really liked the shot of the tree with the leaves growing up the trunk, really cool gallery Motts

Great sculpture at this location, thnx for posting! So these ornate cemeteries were also used as a relaxing park for the public to visit? That's an interesting note! I'll likely go into the local landfill and be turned under with the dirty baby diapers.
autoguy
WOW. this is amazing. some of the pictures of those statues would make some excellent covers for a death metal album.
Ben
This is beautiful we own a cemetary, I am always drawn to the older ones, we have one here I wish Motts would photograph, thank you for these pics
Raven

So stunningly beautiful. I can't tell you what beautiful old cemetaries do to me, they're so peaceful. Thank you, Mr. Motts.

Really lovely set. I just found this site and I am in love with your work. I love old cemetary statuary. The glass encased grave...i've seen it before, but only in Chicago. It was a means to protect more delicate stonework from harsh winters and erosion.
Dawnish
Totally love the way these pictures were captured!!

Reminds me of the cemetarys at home in Germany. My mothers family is buried there around some awesome memorials.
