I've just about completed a total overhaul of the website, which was long overdue. Although the site looks pretty similar to the older version, many improvements have been made; some not as noticable as others, but hopefully they will enhance your experience here. Here are some of the new features:
No more huge listing of all the places anymore - they've been broken up into pages. This does make places harder to find though, so I've placed a search box in the top-left corner. Just start typing and the auto-complete feature will help you find what you're looking for. The search box recognizes alternate names for locations (these can be historic terms and abbreviations such as "NSH").
A place where I will be posting some news, recent photos from my travels, some thoughts, etc. I will try my hardest to make them all interesting on some level!
You can now easily share locations, images, or travelogue posts with others using the share button, which looks like a star. A little window will appear, and contain a list of places for you to share to (Facebook, MySpace, Delicious, Reddit, and over a hundred more).
If you haven't subscribed to the RSS feed to stay updated, now is the time! The old feed wasn't so hot, but nowadays new locations, new galleries, news articles, and travelogue posts all being automatically fed into it so you can stay on top of things easily. The URL for the feed is: http://www.opacity.us/feed, or choose a reader by clicking the large feed icon in the sidebar on the right side!
Opacity now runs on a framework, which means faster-loading pages. Also, while you are clicking through images in a gallery, the next image will download in the background, reducing waiting time even more.
I'm sure there will be plenty of bug fixing in the next few days, so bear with me, and let me know of any errors or if something looks funny. Please try to browse the site with a relatively new browser, Internet Explorer 6 just doesn't cut it anymore!
