You know, before I looked at the comments below the picture, the first thought into my head was "graveyard"! That building section behind looks pretty church-like.

You couldn't happen to tell what all those lumps on the floor were, could you?

What some people will do to save a buck on remodeling! At least it gives something interesting to comtemplate. Such as: Who in their right mind would have either of these elements in their home or office let alone both AT THE SAME TIME!

Village

It's like an old puzzle, the pieces don't all fit together quite so well anymore.

Shattered

reddll

What a whiny bunch you are! I remember fondly my sleepless college days! Those 6 hours of sleep weeks (between classes, work, and play). At least here you got to be "discombobulated" in a beautiful place.

Asylum in the Distance

What an exceptional landscape!

Kind of foreboding, isn't it? One fortress preceding another fortress?

Luminescence Around the Well

It is amazing how impressive you make this castle appear even in its state of disrepair and ruin.

Perambulation

reddll

This photo makes me wonder about who had to use this "perambulator". It also is kind of comforting to think that maybe this chair enabled someone to have a bit of some kind of a life that they couldn't of had laying in bed all day.

More quotes in relation to the comments above:

"Humor may be defined as the kindly contemplation of the incongruities of life, and the artistic expression thereof."
-Stephen Leacock

"Humor is perhaps a sense of intellectual perspective: an awareness that some things are really important, others not; and that the two kinds are most oddly jumbled in everyday affairs."
-Christopher Morley, Inward Ho

"Hazing is an extraordinary activity that, when it occurs often enough, becomes perversely ordinary as those who engage in it grow desensitized to its inhumanity."

Examination Light

reddll

The lamp is dented on the outside and the light is reflecting off of these "dimples".

Isn't it interesting that in capturing this lamp Motts that you have inadvertantly captured the degradation of the structure in the background? It reminds me of a surreallistic painting.

Medical Room

The lights are low as an attempt to put as much of the lighting to good use as possible. We do this now, only we usually add a drop ceiling as well. We just did this at my workplace a few months ago. It helps insulate the room as well as brighten things up. We dropped the ceiling to one inch above the rather tall windows.

I think the scene could be rather pleasent. Imagine someone in their robe and slippers sitting there with their coffee and reading the morning paper by the dawning sunlight. Their blue and white thermos by their side.

Florid Doors

reddll

Navi, I agree. Pastels drive me crazy, they are annoyingly colorless to me. I enjoy bold colors. I don't think that these doors where painted but stained this color. This has preserved them beautifully!

Olander Cafeteria

I have noticed a few brief off colored comments about Lynne popping up. The whole idea here is to share what you know and what you think. If you have something to say about the subject then do so. Slight, sarcastic remarks do not add to the discussion. Lynne does an excellent job of researching questions that people have asked, presenting facts about items/issues, and adding to the atmosphere in general. I personally am grateful for her researching skills and knowledge. She has a lot of experience in many of the things discussed here. I have learned a lot on this website. I have had mentally ill relatives in the past that dealt with many of the issues presented here and am grateful that there are so many visitors here who have shed some light on what used to be kept so silent.

Did you even look at the wonderful pictures that are presented here? It doesn't seem that you have even given them a second thought.

Safe

reddll

Janice, this safe is "triple secure". There are the inner doors, the middle door, and the then the outer door. The door to the left stacks on top of the inner doors and then the door on the right neatly closes over it all. The "shelf" on the inside of the outer door probably held some "petty cash" or other things needed for everyday use. This eliminated having to open the whole darn thing to get 5 bucks out.
