Looking at the construction of these units, i feel you can rule out any type of oven or cremation device, as they appear to be constructed of galvanized sheet metal. There appears to be some ductwork above the lower right unit.
looking closely at there construction i would say they are part of the buildings fresh air circulation system. The material on the floor is from the building deteriorating, ( as seen in other photos of this building ) and the size and shape would make them impractical for raising livestock.

I also wanted to add, could there have been a curtain on the inside that could be pulled closed for privacy, there is something laying across the end of the closest tub.
Perhaps the window is to insure that nobody is accidentally left inside the room.

Thanks Barbra and lynne,
i just showed this picture to my wife, who took nurse aid training at a veterans facility, and she said they had multiple tubs and showers there also. she mentioned using the hoyer lift and being able to wheel the residents into special showers on a gurney. The other thing she told me was they had tubs with a side that swung open to make it easyer to get the residents in and out.
she agereed with why there were multiple tubs, having to bathe multiple patients at one time. She was confused as the reason for the observation window, although there has to be a reasonable answer for it being there, it would be to costly and labor intensive to have been put there " just for fun "

Staycee,
I could have worded that better, if there is something in these institutions that you don't understand, just ask lynne about it, if she dosn't have the answe she can find it.
If you get the chance, go back and read some of her past comments ( just click on her name in the comments and you can read the ones she posted )

The tubular objects at the top - center and right - center are fuses, with the blade end they would be 100 + amp capacity. These are a rebuildable fuse, meaning when it blows it can be taken apart and the fuse element replaced. We have some of these around the shop where i work, but from what i understand they are no longer available as the wrong capacity element can be put into the wrong housing, creating a risk of fire or eqipment damage.

Would you put a patient who is dangerous ( to themselves or others ) in a room with a hanging light ? Could these mesh doors have been more for observation than detention ?

Motts,
Would it be difficult to add some before pictures to show people what some of these places used to look like.
I am sure they would be few but what there is may help some of us understand better what we are looking at.
There is a before and after picture of an autopsy table (i forget where exactly ) that really shows a stark contrast between then and now.

The mosaic appears to have been put in after the wall was put up, the frame has been adjusted to fit the oppening and the mortar was crudely applied around it.
The mosaic dosnt fit inside the frame, like it is only a small portion of a much larger picture, possibly salvaged from another building. I am sure that whomever had this put in just liked the way it looked and thought nothing of how it might appear to anyone in the future.

Cabinets

psychadellic one

The room appears to have been remodeled in the '70s, (plain cabinets, light fixtures, glue-in-place ceiling tiles) so a battery powered clock wouldn't be out of place, it appears its back or attachment is still in place, so it might still be under all of those tiles.
