Gondola Wheel

Peter

As a student I operated this ride! Jesus! It was such a long time ago! In 1990. Now I understand the park was closed 6 yrs later. I am so sorry about it. As Hungarian, from behind the iron curtain this job was and has been one of my "life memories" - and it now vanishes into ...eternity... Peter (szabopeter67@t-online.hu)

was there about 8 years ago in Phoenix House. Took the elevator down to the basement and when the door opened. I could not breathe, I went in anyway and every hair on my arms stood up I kept going and came upon an old mattress spring with ties on it, looked like old blood on the floor as well. Wasnt suppossed to be there so I never said anything. I remember running out like I was being chased by the devil himself. I explored alot and wish I had free domain of the place to explore it more. There were always rumors among the people there about it being haunted.

My guess is that the brown roof would be the original, red is the newer/restored roof and the black tarp was used to cover possible holes/cracks in the roof until it was fixed.

Pat I think a lot of your comments have been on point, albeit without any real answers or solutions. Restoring Bennett would be amazing and great for Millbrook, everyone knows that. But if anyone thinks Andy Ciferi has done, or is doing a good job on any issue(s), then you need to have your head examined. The Village Board is the biggest bunch of incompetent, pie-in-the-sky, yes men I've ever encountered. Pat, they can't even figure out garbage pickup, for them to contemplate Bennett development, well that's just too much to ask. Government has failed us on a local, state, and national levels. If the people banded together, we might be able to accomplish something.

Back in the late sixtys or early seventies I was on the skyliner at Rocky Point with my cousin. As we got to the top of the cliff one of the two boys in the lift in front of us got out on top of the cliff. As the lift turned around the boy tried to get back in but was pushed off the cliff. I will never forget that sight as I saw that boy fall down the cliff. Does anyone know if that boy lived I cannot see how he didi and how is his friend who was still in the lift. We kept yelling to him to stay in his car, all he did was yelled down to his friend Back up on the cliff he tried to pull his friend into the lift but just could not. I will never forget this day.

If you live nearby this place, go and grab that lamp in the ceiling quick! I would go there myself but the problem is that I live in Sweden. The lamp is made by Danish designer Poul Henningsen. His company PH have made lots of lamps but this one is rather sought after. Interesting is that the model is called "Cone" which you usually find on... pines! Here in Sweden the value on an old one is $1000 or more.

Please tell us here if you went and grabbed it!
