Rekrats: I disagree with your last point. Rehabilitation isn't a realistic expectation of a prison system. It's prison, not counseling. People who actually DO the things that get them sent to prison are there to be punished for not behaving themselves in normal society, and causing unecessary misery for others ("behave" as in, don't rob, beat, murder, take advantage of, or assault other people. Period.). If somoene is a selfish, violent, aggressive, dishonest, deceitful person who cannot keep him/herself under control in the "outside world" (and I don't care about the "tough childhood/life"), they can sit in prison and rot, as far as I'm concerned (WITHOUT TV, gym, law libraries, etc..). If you do the kinds of things that get you sent there, you DESERVE to BE there. Don't do things that put you there. Duh. Forget about "rehabilitation". Not realistic.

Now, the only thing as creepy as WALL tile is exposed pipes painted to "blend in" with the wall. Always makes me think of the building's "guts" being visible, like the rooms are inside out...shudder....

There is something un-utterably creepy about tile on WALLS!! Yes, I get that they're non-porous, sanitary and easy to clean, blah, blah, blah... but the tiled walls in these places alone would drive me UP them!! This looks like a bunch of theater seats installed in the bottom of an empty swimming pool. Even the color. Bizarre is the only word that comes to mind.

The Hole

nvusofmotts

Wow. Lots of comments on this one. Mine would be AAAAAGGGGHHH!!!!!!!... This creeps me to no end. I even love SCUBA diving, but I absolutely refuse to go at night, in black, bottomless water. When my grandparents gutted and re-did their basement, they found a very old, rock-lined well under the floor. They put a huge iron cover on it, but we got to look down it first. I've hated dark water ever since...(8-o

Not sure why, but these kinds of sinks (especially in rows) always give me the creeps. The legs look "stuck-on" and "extra" and "in the way", and just coldly clinical. I know, I know, they ARE in an INTSTITUTION, but they always seem so "institutional" when used in non-commercial settings.Whenever I see a picture of a house with a sink like this, I'm creeped-out by the non-homey, "industrial" feel to it. I always want to scream "go down to Home Depot and buy a sink that's meant for a HOUSE!!!!!!" OK, small concern in life, but I don't want any part of my house to look like it belongs in a hospital.
