Wow. One of my worst nightmares is getting stuck in dark, thick, black opaque water that has no bottom. Always imagine that something will grab my feet from below.......or bite.....(shudder).Creeps me out.......:-0.. WHY WHY WHY do they not drain these things?....(unless it's just years of rain)...

i wonder if they are actually fungi or mossy mold, growing upward from the blackish "stems"....?

Yep. A four-letter one. Classy. Anyway....back to the pix (I promised I'd (try to) stick to the topic, and have since slapped my own hand sat in the corner for, well, at least a little while...;-) ). I still haven't looked at them all. It seems like every time I go back through a gallery, there's another little detail in a picture I hadn't noticed before. It's fascinating to discover. I truly can't imagine (as I'm sure none of us can), what it would have been like to have spent the better part of a lifetime in one of these places....I mean, NEVER to have known a life even remotely like the "everyday" experiences we all take for granted...hmmm. Just a thought. ---BTW, Motts, thanks so much for the wallpaper!...:-). I stuck a great one on my desktop. I know, it's been said before, but still...great site..;-)

I've seen your name on a few nasty comments on this site, so...since I'm absolutely sure you'll have at least one equally intelligent little response (as people who talk like that can never resist just ONE more comment....;-),..I'll just sit back and wait for it to come up.....(takes a sip of hot coffee, and smiles...).

BTW, Lynne, I enjoy reading your explanations of things on this site. They shed a little light on these "dark" places, I think...:-)...

Sorry for the 2nd post. The "red guy" seems to be easier to see if you actually look at him from the right side of the screen (doesn't make sense, but....)...His "shirt" is long-sleeved and white, and his "belt" is the faint, short line that runs parallell to where the back of the "sleeve "would be. Any easier? (leaving so as not to hog the board.....:-)).

FC... Huh?....OK....I wasn't really making a social commentary, here... just noticed something odd that caught my eye....................J-131274.....weird, huh?...Probably just faded remains of old graffiti, but, to use a cliche, you never know......:-).

Does anyone else see the VERY faint, redish outline of a hunched-over man in the clean area, toward the ceiling? His "eyes" are just below the faint horizontal line towards the top. He looks like he's looking down at you, with his right side toward you, right arm straight down in front, like a football player getting ready to hike the ball....just found that a little creepy, and now I can't NOT see it.....hmmm. Anyone else?
