This was the main entrance into the hospital.

The steps lead down to other wards and the football pitch and cricket pitch and there used to be a couple of tennis courts. In the summer we used to have a garden fete on the grass outside the church/clock.

Used to be the disturbed ward where people needed that little bit extra care and attention. Some of those doors were locked from the outside with no handle inside so the patients couldnt get out until they had calmed down. There were peep holes so you could check to see if they were alright. Sounds barbaric I know but at the time it was the done thing

Used to work here when the hall was THE hub of the hospital. Had dances, films, pantomimes etc. It was a great meeting place for all the patients ro come and have tea, coffee etc. What a waste!
