Market St Bridge

Damn flood. Or dam the flood? Or damn the corrupt officials for not using the money to fix this up. Shopping on the main floor, lodgings, apartments above. Just do it.

Circular

liza

What is with the yellow electrical cord above the door? If one follows the arc of the circle it will show that this room is not really that big. Probably not a bedroom. Maybe it was a dressing room? Can't you picture the little pouf stool in the middle and some mirrors? Interesting to see the damage in the outer room. Such a contrast.

Let the wild rumpus begin.

I believe somebody posted that the area no longer has any industry to support the town. Therefore, nobody is wants to spend the money due to a lack of return on the investment. Poor non-industrial USA. Bring back our factories from foreign ground and make the world right again.

The Lobby

liza

Minneapolis, MN had a beautiful building called the Metropolitan. They tore it down in the 60's as they did to many of MPLS fabulous buildings. Parts of the Metropolitan were recently found partially buried in an old quarry area. The original public library was a Richardsonian Romanesque design. They tore than down too, in the name of progress. No protesters back then. Nobody cared. Just like my grandma thinking her antique furniture was ugly and old. It is so sad. These buildings were built to last, but nobody wants them anymore. At least let the salvagers in to take the pretty stuff!

Tardy to the party as usual.

I thought one got hooked on cigarettes.

Playground

I used to live up on the Mesabi Iron Range in MN. Most of the old stuff has been torn down and salvaged, but there were still some old creepy things around in the 70's. (I am old). HUGE creepy things. They still have a few "museums" and observation areas to look out over the open pit mines. Most memorable are the giant shovels and tires for the giant machinery, and the giant trucks. I mean BIG.

Imagine that thing with the blades / hooks coming at you. Not time to run, then you trip. Aiiieeee.

Hospital Life

liza

I remember when we could still smoke in Federal buildings. My boss smoked and I hated going into her office. I drew he a picture of a retractable "smokers dome" that would drop down around her while she smoked. Complete with microphone and speakers.

Columns

liza

Did anybody notice the hook things on the outside of the columns? They could just be holders for rain gutters, but I am thinking perhaps they hung planters from them. That would have been really nice.

Star

Are some of those smears from animal paws? I can see a couple little paw prints. The other marks remind me of marks my cats make when they jump and do not quite reach their destination.

Unpleasant

liza

Oh. Is that Motts? That is a creepy reflection. The face on the left side and the form in the middle. The feces looks like soap or something more liquid. A runny doo doo? Great shot. When my little one's were first getting potty trained they would "experiment" with poo. One of them even peed in the load area of a toy dump truck. Kids do the strangest things. I suspect a youngster behind this prank.

Wheelchair in Hall

liza

Is that a barbeque grill further down the hall to the left? Hot meal and a wheely chair. Nothing better.

Hydrotherapy

liza

I sure could use one of those tubs today. 8 degrees in MN. My aching bones long for a nice deep tub. I attend therapy at a pain clinic with a warm therapy pool. They keep it at 98 degrees because we work out. The hot tub with jets is at 110. I prefer the pool because I can float. The only comfortable postition for me.

Blue Skies

Looks like the Ell wing of the building is leaning and ready to fall. I know it is just the Motts angle, but it still looks threatening.

Gates

liza

Hey Steven! I had just noticed that wolf face and was going to ask the same question before I saw your post. It looks like a body on the gate with the head above. Awesome extra creepy element, eh?

Plain

liza

-B-, the dead tree to the right is covered with that ivy. No doubt the ivy is probably parasitic and killed the tree.

The flimsy little canopy is an awning to prevent rain from hitting you while you wait at the door or have a smoke.

False Exit

liza

I think the half painted walls had something to do with sanitation. One sees it in almost all government owned buildings. Same stupid green everywhere. They could scrub and repaint the lower half of the walls without having to re-do the whole tall wall. I had to scrub plenty in the military.

Malevolent Mildew. I agree. I have some in my ancient farmhouse. It shows up it the strangest places.

liza

Oh, wait. I thought these might be patio loungers, but maybe they are just adjustable beds. Really low for beds though.
