The Castle

And when Tim Burton and Johnny Depp are done remaking Alice in Wonderland, they can come here and remake the story of Cinderella. ; )

Such a shame this beautiful castle can't be saved. : (

Chinarose~
This original location is no longer open.
But just a few miles down the road from it, Clark's Elioak Farm have tried to save and relocate whatever they can.
(Though not the castle in this gallery.
It is falling apart and now quite unsafe.)
But the farm NOW has the original Old Woman's Shoe which was also a slide.
As well as the original smaller structures like the Merry Miller's house, the 3 bears cottage, and the little pig's brick house, etc..
Also, the original figures like Snow White, Robin Hood, and others.

Clark's Elioak Farm opens their gates on April 1st for their new 2008 season!
And many new figures will have been added to the attractions!
Be sure to check it out!

Overgrown

cayla~
This original Enchanted Forest site is private property and has been closed for years now.
It is posted.
There is a huge mall strip that destroyed much of this original E.F. after the original owners first sold it.
This mall strip and restaurant are right next to this location.

Since these pictures were first put up a few years ago, Cinderella's castle has become very dangerous.
One tower has fallen down since then and no doubt the others will soon follow suit. : (

Sean T~
The boat at the E.F. was known as Little Toot. It used to travel around Mt. Vesuvius and was kept in a private collection for years after the Enchanted Forest closed years ago.

Just recently, the current owners of this boat, donated it to Clark's Elioak Farm, where many of these original enchanted figures and structures have found a new home.
At the farm, it just floats in a small pond, but you can go on it for photo ops.

Clark's will be opening for their new season this April.
They plan on exhibiting some new displays of either original E.F. figures that have been found, returned, and/or repaired.
They also plan on showing off some new figures that have been re-created by the artist Mark Cline from that area.
Mark Cline, as well as other artists helping to bring back the stories that this park was known for, have been using old video and/or pictures to make these new figures look as much as they did when they told their stories and rhymes at the E.F when it was open.

Elegance

Ladyhawke04008

This picture is just SO amazing!
Motts~ You are able to capture so much in just one picture!
From the beautiful design of the staircase with their shades of blue and grey that lead down to the arched entrance to them.
The small tease of decorative diamond tiles laying at the foot of them.
Then to the door with such an equally and beautiful design.
It appears to have rays of sunlight opening it , welcoming others to come in.
Definately one of my favorites! : )

Bob~ It is closed and it is posted.
Right now relocation efforts to save what remains have been going on.
They are going to Clark's Elioak's Farm that is just a few miles from this original location, so that the public can enjoy seeing these pieces once again.

Meredith~ This is not Alice in Wonderland's tunnel.
I can see why you would think this was where Alice was suspended in mid air to portray her falling down into the rabbits hole.

This picture is of Cinderella's castle.
This castle's turrets have started to decay and crumble.
It has become quite unsafe.
Check out Rapunzel's Wish on 6-18-2006 that's above for a more detailed description of this castle.

Very little is known what ever happened to Alice and the rest of the wonderland figures. The tunnel was destroyed when development for a huge shopping center replaced most of this place.

You can order this d.v.d now through the farm's site as well as some other items.
This money goes towards relocating structures to the farm, repairing, and preserving this enchanting past.

Fall Memories

ladyhawke04008

Motts~ I have to say that this one, in my opinion, is one of the most beautiful ones that you've ever done.
The many different shades of red in it and the contrast that they are to each other is just beautiful.
The little shock of white snow at the bottom makes it all the more striking, and brings out the colors even more.

Debi G from Oz~
Holy Crap!
That sounds like it could be a beginning to an episode of C.S. I. and then the scene cuts away to the C.S.I. team finding the said apprentice dead in the same fridge hours later.

What a way to break an apprentice in.
Much milder than the cook asking the new guy to get him a bucket of steam A.S.A.P.!

Twist

ladyhawke04008

This staircase reminds me of the one that was in my Grandparents house. It was behind a sliding door in the kitchen, and went up to the back part of the house.
My Grandmother told me that before they moved into the home, that staircase was used by the owner's hired help and led up to their servants quarters.

Celestial Motion

ladyhawke04008

I love all the different rooftops and their angles.
But living in Maine, I'm also imagining a foot of snow on each rooftop and what a heck of a time it's gonna be trying to use a snow rake to try to get it off!

Church Entrance

ladyhawke04008

How beautiful is that?
Love all of the different windows and way the doorway is framed.
There are quite a few sets of windows with three to them, and because it's a church,
I keep thinking of the trinity.

Martha L OK~ With your memory you have literally brought this photograph to life for me. This is what is so wonderful about this site when people are connected to these photographs personally and post their memories.
Thank you so much for sharing that!

ladyhawke04008

I love your angle in this one, Motts.
The border at the top of the second floor windows.
I've never seen anything like that before.
Even what looks like fencing at the very top could never be called plain.
I could just get lost in looking at this and never want to be found.
I just can't believe all the many different designs to this place that are shown in just this one photo alone!
That's why I think of it as one of Motts'
"signature" shots.

NOW I see why the "Most Haunted" crew came here!

Thanks, Motts! Once again you've taken me to another place and another time. ; )

ladyhawke04008

Just beautiful! I also love the look of the tree, and is it a railing?, under the archway, you framed it very nicely indeed.
It's like a picture within a picture.

Stratosphere

ladyhawke04008

It looks like skies from two different worlds are colliding up there and becoming one.
Or maybe they're battling to see which one will take over.
My bet is the one with the most light.

Oh wow. Just beautiful...now THOSE are some window treatments! So MUCH detail but not to the point where it could have looked gaudy or over the top.

Fallen

ladyhawke04008

Some comments have reminded me of a bbok I have. It's the screenplay version of Stephen King's "The green mile." Frank Darabont wrote it and in the very beginning it states this,
"We each owe a death, there are no exceptions...
