several of the photos Motts has taken of mental facilities have these chairs in them. I wonder if the Gorvernment had a contract with the chair manufactuer and shipped them to all the facilities.

My old Art school had those kinds of doors in the basement- It used to be a burlesque house and there were theatres down there... they're thick wood, and soundproof, and designed so you can't slam them.

Motts says this was like... one of 20 wards. So not all 8000 would be in here. Although the idea of more than 100 living in here is still pretty hairy.

I used to work at a small amusement park- i worked the merry-go-round. On cruddy days very few peopel would come, so I woudl just sit, looking at the empty carousel and thinking- this is the most depressing thing in the world.
Then one lonely kid would come, and I'd strap him into the pony... and then I'd get on one nearby- just so he wouldn't have to ride alone.

I'm always amazed by the amount of style that is in these european industrial complexes. If only us Americans got the memo fifty-so years ago.

I love the style the building has- it's more than industrial- it has railing and facades and the style of the braces... someone really took pride in their work. And now that it's abandoned...

maybe we DO need places like this... to COMBAT that which spews from our TV's. Despite what this place was used for, i appreciate its design purpose... to get its people to return to to its roots- both as a people and as a species.

the design of this place is doing its job- it definitely conjures images in my mind of ancient warlords and public executions, and of spirits stronger than I could ever hope to be.

Simply gorgeous. it feels just like the scene in the Wizard of Oz, when Dorothy opens the farm house door after crushing the Wicked Witch.
