I just read about this recently . Sad to say but this is what happened. In hydrotherapy the person was put into a tub a canvas i believe under them and one on top streched sp tight up to the neck. the paient then was then inmersed in cold water the jets going this could go for hours or days. Many paitents died from this form of treatmant that is why it didn't last for a long time like ect and other treatments have. If they had a BM while in the tub it stayed in the tub no fresh water.

Please forgive me but I have to do this. This is NOT a Psychatic hospital it is a place that took care of children who where devlepomeltly and or phyicaly disabled. Many if not most of them where born this way some may have gotten polo or have been in accidents that had made it hard for there parents or other family members to take care of thee child. In some states the state could just take the child and place the child wherever. The reason some of the stuff was not give back to the client was because they had died and nobody knew how to get ahold of the family. The state agencies have a habit of leaving things behind in the building the abondond in mich they leave charts of patients the last hospyital closed was 1999 i think..

The hospital has a lot of merory for lot's of people. Some people may have good memories and some not so good. It does not matter that this hospital was psychitatric. This could be any hospital in the world. we all have a good or bad memorie of a hospital. May times people would tell horror stories to scare people to keep people in line . Sometimes if a person felt they were mistreated they would complain about what happened and it would get around town .

I was in a partial day program at the hospital . Everyone 's name is listed by there first name only and if there are 2 people with the same first name last inastal sp. As long as they done release personal information about u.

It could have been used when families where visiting the inmates. to raise money for something what I don't know.

really does look like a old boarding school. from a very scary movie that I would not like to be in.

two kids near me went to two churches and caused over several thousand $in damage in each church asked why we where bored. Mark even thou you will not be ging o jail or be asked to repay orreplace the things u break or steal think about if it was your house and someone did it to u and then u wouldn't laugh so much. wake up and smell the coffee.

many of the restrants don't have the nice lames wool around the wirst . most are made of very thick plastic and are about 3 pounds . 2 point restaints are i leg and the opisit arm not ab;e to move limbs much they (staff) will put 2 fingers in side to make sure it not to tight. The patient is to be offered bathroom break and then back into room if they have not settled down there is also 4 point restaint in which all limbs are restrained. many times meds are give in these occasions

This is us for very violet patients that where hard to control with meds and with what little med.s they had at that time . These where not "quiet rooms " "blue rooms " "padded cells" where patients are put until they settle down after getting medication of other treatment. saddly prison now replace these rooms

This site is amazing, disturbing and intriguing (sp). I am very interested in mental health issues and currently studying human services and pyschology. I recently went to see the hospital at night. The visions and feelings I got were horrifying... no I am not a freak but have somewhat of a sixth sense. I was so frightened I bolted out of there. Some very disturbing and violent things were done there if my instincts are correct.

Now, I know that it's hard to trust the credibility of those who say they've been there. Now, I can honestly say I haven't been there, although it's right down the road from me. A lot of my close friends have gone in there and it has fucked them up. It's some of the sacriest things I've been close to, and I still have every intention of getting in there.

Now, let me just clear some things up for those who don't seem as interested as I over researching the hospital.

1) It was not shut down because of structural damage. They just tell you that because who's going to believe the real reason? The reason they shut it down was because "supposively" the head of the place was "murdered." He definitely died, but no one knows how. But know the structural damage story is a crock of shit. However, the inside is still falling apart. Stairways are collapsing along with cielings and floors. And more than that, if you mangage to get part the Morgue, make sure you're wearing really good shoes because unless you want tetnus...there are rusty scalpels and scissors and other such sharp things on the floor.

As to the part about taking it down, I drove by there the other day with my boyfriend and asked him what the huge building was because I had never really payed any attention to it. He says to me that it's the hospital. So if they are tearing it down, they haven't succeeded in taking it all down yet. Also, I was looking at the site 1856.org or whatever it is, and other sites dedicated to keeping it open, and I believe you can get petition papers if you're determined enough. I don't think it's to keep the whole Hospital, but at least the Main Building.

Furthermore, asbestos things HAVE been found in NSH so please be careful should you choose to go.

Now, the other day I was having a discussion with one of my best friends and we were talking about how they want to build condos and housing units on that land. I do believe that has to be the dumbest thing I have ever heard. Why would anyone in their right mind, build housing units on the burial grounds of a place where there was unjust murders and torture and suicide?

I want to tell you about the scariest thing that has ever happened that I was close to about that Hospital. A couple years ago, my boyfriend was the sweetest guy in the world. No lie. He was a little crazy and obnoxious but he's a guy. So him and 3 friends decide they're gonna go to NSH. They were there for 4 hours. They lost one of their friends. Finally the cops and state troopers came in after them and they left without their friend. A couple weeks later, in the paper there was an article talking about how the kid they left there was now in a mental institution. Not to long after that, my boyfriend would have these moments where he would black out and become someone totally different and try to kill himself. Finally they put him in a mental institution. He nearly managed to kill himself there too, but was stopped the doctors who had come by to see him. Finally it went away and he's okay now, but he's never quite been the same. One of my friends also told me that just being in there long enough will make people want to kill themselves. It's a scary thing.

Although I have every intention of at least going once, I don't recommend going.
