Privacy curtains and no doors? Oxymorons. (I always thought that phrase meant "airhead")

Again, another observation of the doors being left open in so many of the shots of this institution could be a result of security being able to do quick sweeps of the building to insure there were no intruders.

I imagine any person looking into one of these rooms for whatever reason, would not nor could not turn to leave the room and close the door.

Unknown Objects

This Utica crib... BINGO! It's still used by people who "horde" children today. These are used by the people we read about that chain children to beds or place them in cages so they won't wander away. People foster or adopt kids or are given special needs children by people who have adopted them and find they can not care for them. We've read of plenty of cases like this recently.

Thiese were most certainly NOT used in the poultry industry.

The Abram Hewitt

Katie

I don't know what it is about this particular photo, but, I cannot stop looking at it. It is as though it is still alive. A lot of the other pictures you cannot see the names, which makes it less personal. I spend and hour googleing the Abram Hewitt and did not find much. I think that is what makes this photo so saddening. It harbors a huge feeling of abandonment.
