The Riverdale Hotel has been demolished since 1969-1970, it was the quarters for the Athletic staff in 1969. Railroad flat type rooms. Each room housed 4 beds some were bunk beds. What memories.

Employee Room

Some of my favorite memories are here. Late 60's early 70's.
Lynda Carter started here with a group know as "Speedy Garfin, and Garfin's Gathering" That was the year she won Miss America .

I'm still friendly with some of the old athletic staff. "Can never go back, but if I could"

I worked at the Pines in the late 60's and early 70's. It was absolutly wonderful back then. Life was slower, care free. And the girtls were all beautiful when we wailked on the golf course at night.
I remember on evening in particular. It was the night of the last draft for Military service. We were sitting in front of the Television on the second level , along side of the steps. So many of my friends and I were waiting for the draft call to begin.
The roll call begain on the first date, my friend Jerry stood up and said " Well, I don't have to put up with the suspense, I'm gonna join the National Guard" I was 287. I was safe.

Does anybody remember Lynda Carter, who later became Wonder Woman was singing in the lounge. The group named " Speedy Garfin & Garfin's Gathering". Later that summer she won the Miss America Title,

No Sun in the Solarium

I have been in McLeans (before it was converted to condo's)...very scary stuff..ive been trying to find pictures of the old hospital. It was a marvel in terms of architecture...like a small college campus..all interconnected with an subterranian network of maintanance halls, which had to be, if i recall correctly, two to three flights below ground. It was cold as hell down there (never mind pitch black, even with a maglight)..final statement..the chapel was notoriously known for having over a hundred teddy bears hanging in nooses from the ceiling..now tell me THATS not crazy...whats crazier..is that the new condo development cleverly chose the chapels basement as the foundation for thier community pool!

After the record-breaking snowstorm we got here on LI, I'll bet there's a whole lot of snow there right now instead of ice, lol.

Sweed, I think you're referring to the smokestacks with smoke coming out of them.

93 in the Distance

Gary

Building 93 rocks. I've never been inside of it but have been upclose and let me tell you it definitely makes you feel kind of small and insignificant. Also the look and feel of its surroundings help add to the ominous feel to the building... it's like no other place on Long Island.

Medication for Treatments

Gary

I'm thinking some anticonvulsant/anxiolytic/sedative and antipsychotic meds... barbiturates, benzos, etc.

I like how Methadone is in its own category and isn't considered a narcotic. I guess it wasn't back then?

Her Eyes

Gary

That definitely doesn't look like a drawing... I think it's completely natural, and that makes it even creepier.

Motts, do you happen to live on Long Island? I noticed you have like a million galleries for Kings Park and you mention returning here more than once.

Farewell, Light

Gary

Guys, hate to burst your bubbles but it's not a reflection, shadow, ghost, person, etc. It's just light that's coming in from behind the camera. If you look below the window, all the way to the right you can see a vertical line of light (with a few nicks)... this line simply continues into the window, which gives the illusion of the "person" you're seeing.
