the buildings almost have personalities of their own .. not to mention the "help" from the facilities still in use .. My favourite client ( we were never allowed to call them patients) was a woman named Karen .. who loved to pee in her purse and throw it out the open window at someone on the sidewalk.

I love the brick and flagstone .. I guess growing up around the buildings and then later working there left a soft spot in me for it, especially now that I'm living so far away.

it does look hideous in photographs ...

but really, in person? It's beautiful.

I grew up in the shadows of these buildings .. truly, they might look a bit wobbly in the photos, but they're really still fairly stable. I had the blessing of being in the buildings before and after the fire .. as a third generation employee - I remember the day it burnt. :(
