This print/picture looks like it dates back to the 1930's depression era. Many prints like this were created to give hope and to inspire people to help each other in turbulent times (hence the oncoming tornado).

While the world of design changes, and things become more simple and modern (square seems to be the trend), I will always appreciate classical architecture and elements. Buildings like this should be treasured and not abandoned.

The color is a bit much, but the details are incredible. The door looks very institutional not unlike an asylum. Its just missing the small square window with safety glass.

Love the "Empire" revival railings. This was probably a very beautiful room, with lots of antique "Williamsburg" furnishings and wing back chairs. I hope they were able to restore this part.

Found that song recently in a box with a bunch of cassette tapes, and a old GE stereo walkman that still turns on! The summer of 1984 will never die.......:)

I've noticed many people comment about The Shining (Original). While the actual sets and filming were done at Pinewood Studios in England, the actual designs (including the great hall) were inspired by the Awhanee Hotel in Yosemite National Park. When you walk into the front lobby, you swear that you've actually walked on to the set of the movie. Creepy but an incredible experience......

This room resembles some of the asylum rooms seen on the site. I love the square of shag carpeting. That adds a real touch of class......

On another note, the taller building kind of looks like public housing to me......just a thought.....

The two story wing is probably from the 1940's or 1950's. The four story building is straight out of the 1960's or early 1970's (what color is that anyway, Harvest Gold?). Older resorts (such as the Pines) always tried to do more modern add-ons that almost never related to the original structure. Whats really weird about this place is the use of pastels everywhere, especially in the mountains, thats a new one on me.......
