Interesting shot. What's most confusing is why people are baffled that there would be a bath tub in a building where somebody lived.

The fact that you admit to being so "curious" to read people's personal medical files when these folks were at a damned rough point in their lives - just to prove your own personal point - is exactly why HIPAA laws were enacted - to keep people who have no connection with the person involved from rooting through their records.

Agreed!

Didn't anybody know a friend who had an uncle or cousin who pushed a cotton candy cart in the big house? No? I got nothing then. Surreal shot.

This picture fills me with joy. Nothing bad about the other sets, but it's nice seeing something in color for a change. And not too old (I'm european, so old buildings doesn't interest me quite as much as they interest americans, altho I have to admitt your work really makes me gasp sometimes).

Anyway, I can almost feel the children laughing, playing, learning.. Makes me smile.

My first thought was exactly the same as Chris -this MUST be the place where they filmed that scene in Children of Men. o_O

Oh, and this is my first comment. I've spent the last 24 hours looking at your pictures and I'm just.. amazed. You're really, really talented Motts. Almost half the fun is to read the comments, tho. Some people have very, very vivid imagination. :D

The asked him his Location and it was in front of Kirk Bride hall Well what had happen the state police went there and saw the car and asked him where his car was and he pointed to a steering wheel under a car which had pulled in the spot where his steering wheel was. When I worked with him. I saw the wheel and i asked him why don't you drive any more Bruno his reply was Herb the maintenance Guy took his Keys...LOL

Controls

E

To all I use to work here. In this Boiler room. I started out as a helper and moved to Asst. Stationary Engineer. Those boards were state of the ART back in the 70's the were pull out circuit boards each one pulled out so that it could be replaced. That area was once enclosed it was the only area that was air conditioned they had to do it because the heat was burning out the boards. I remember on day sitting in that room and Orange & Rockland called and they said we had to get off the gas and go to Oil at that time once you received the call from O&R you had 45 minutes to get off there gas and on to Oil. If it was very cold out the homes would use more gas and they would feel the draw so they would call us and tell us to go to Oil. Back in the 80's that control panel was how you did your job I have left many fingerprints on those buttons the powered those 3 Boilers. I have since left that field and started working with Computers, much cleaner.

Office

E

The Picture is of the Office of the Senior Stationary Engieer If any of you people happen to live in or near Stony Point and most of you are, then you must be familiar with Reservoir Road. As you drive down that every once in a while you will see an elderly man walking his Black Lab Dog he is most likely wearing sunglasses. His name is Lowell He was the man in that office. He can give you all the history about that power house. And if lot of you road the bus to school with the Haverstraw Transit then alot of you may know a guy by the name of Mr. Ryker He lived on Gurnee Ave he always had the bus there. Well he was also a person with worked in that power house.

Equipment

This Boiler used #3 heating oil which was like TAR it was so Thick. What would happen is it would be atomized with steam which would come in on the light colored line on the right and the fuel would come in on the left the steam would be about 500 degrees (notice I said STEAM) it would make the fuel oil very thin when mixed and then would burn. The Steam out of these boilers would power the whole area it would give heat to the buildings during the winter. heat and cook the food in the food service buildings. There are miles of Pipes under the ground and when it would snow you could see the pipe lines they would be the tracks that would have no snow on them. Those days are long gone Now I am a Computer Geek

Looking Up

E

I use to work in this Boiler Room I started a a helper and was moved to ass't Stationary Egnineer. This picture was of the #3 Boiler off to the left of this was an office which had all the controls for all of the boilers. The components all had gold plating back then. The had to get the office Air Conditioned inorder to keep the controls working properly. The was the only area that had air conditioning.

First flew the greedy Pelican, Eager for the reward White wings flailing. Then came the silent Dove Flying beyond the Pelican, As far as he could. A raven flies in, Flying higer than the Dove, Just to show he can. A swan glides in, To find a peaceful spot, Next to another bird. Finally out comes a crow Coming quickly to a stop Yawning and then napping. Who will show the way, Who will be the key, Who will lead to The silver reward.
