Thanks for all the updates on this school building. I hate it that old buildings are slowly going away....its sad when they aren't used for other purposes than just left to die a slow death.....keep us updated ok....Pat.....I love reading everyone's comments esp former students and teachers etc......very interesting .......Thanks so much!!

Reflections

This place has always interested me esp after watching some videos on YouTube about it. Not sure how much is really true or just fiction. I thought I'd looked at your gallery Motts but I guess I hadn't yet. I'm sure its changed alot since you last took this pictures some what 5-6 yrs ago now.(Or longer?) It would cost a fortune to renovate it thats for sure. If all these forgotten buildings had uses already picked out for them & were rebuilt when they had been closed after only some yrs than maybe they could be 'saved' but the costs are really just too high....its sad in some ways ...these buildings are much better built than probably the new one's today.......its a total shame. Thanks for the gallery Motts. They are always eye opening thats for sure!!!!

Peel Apart

Yeah some of those halls look pretty scary with it being so dark & all.......It would be interesting to explore but the darkness would bother me way too much. This is even in the daylight too. Great pic though esp with the peeling door & paint....cool!!!

Roy thanks for your thoughts....its good to hear from workers or former patients at these hospitals.....I work in the medical field but in a private Dr's office doing records. So my job is totally different from what you expericenced in these places. I'm sure all the things you could tell us could fill a book. I appreciate your stories & its important to not forget those patients.....no one wants to be forgotten.....so maybe with your stories and those of us that go through these pictures that Motts has provided.....at least 'we' don't forget those that called these places 'home'......it makes me sad......but if we forget the past we are doomed to repeat it.......let us never forget.......

Misty: I often wonder what has happend to many of the patients in these places as well....its very sad to think about. I'm sure some of them had no where to go....To many of them that was there only home. It really does make one think doesn't it......

Yeah Motts I also agree its nice that you got to go back to a place you've previously went too. I wish you could do that with others esp maybe Pennhurst again? I'll love anything from you.....its awesome!!

I bet back in its heyday this staircase was beautiful. What a pity its left to rust away with no one walking up & down on it anymore. It is a total shame really. I do agree with eldokid the plastic will still be around but the building will be long gone....anyone watch the 'Life After People' series.....very interesting.......Great pic Motts!!

Castleton Castle

Great photo as always Motts. When I see this view of the building....I have a feeling when they were building this way back in the day someone looked up at it (one of the workers etc...) and thought what a wonderful structure it would be. They might not be too happy with the state that it is in now though....I'm sure. Thanks for giving us perspective as always Motts.

Off the Beaten Path

blue lamp

Thanks for the great set of photos Motts. I still have to look through the first set of Pennhurst pics. It takes sometime to go through all the sections on your site but I will get through them. I really have enjoyed reading everyone's posts in these threads. Esp those that worked at Pennhurst. I also saw the GA show & a couple other tv shows that had Pennhurst in it. Than I remembered that Motts had taken pics so it was great to be able to see more pics and stuff that wasn't talked about in these shows. Its very sad the way the patients were treated here and other places. I'm sure not everyone was treated horribly but those that were it is sad. Again thanks for everyones comments. It makes it much more interesting reading thats for sure!! And may all the souls from Pennhurst rest in peace.......

I really like this picture Motts....I love your lonely chair shots....its interesting to see that the couple of windows pictured don't appear to have any broken panes in them. Thats totally surprising really. Most of the windows are gone. Though they might be now since its been awhile since you took these pictures. It is interesting though. Great shot!!

Fading Colors

blue lamp

I just wanted to thank everyone for there comments in these threads about Pennhurst. They are all interesting to read. Esp. from the people that used to work there. They are all enlightening and some of the things that have occured at Pennhurst & many others like it is truely as shame & disgrace. Maybe some people were worse off than others & maybe some should not have ever been put in these places but to not be treated like a person & just some animal is horrible. Now I'm not saying this is what happend here or other places but if they did it is sad.......if we do not learn from our mistakes we are doomed to repeat them......

This is a creepy picture. All the trees or weeds that look like tree's. This would be a great place for a scary movie to be made don't ya think.....it just has that scary creepy look that would be perfect for it don't ya think??? Great photo Motts as always you never disappoint ever!!!!

Lone Chair

blue lamp

An interesting & sad lonely chair pic Motts....just be careful in walking through these old buildings (esp with no lights) that lone chair right in the door way could be a hazard really. Not that I've ever been or done that (cause I'm too scared to do any of that period) I leave that to people like you Motts.....thanks for letting me be able to see this stuff too!! Your pictures are awesome!!

Bathtub

blue lamp

Yeah safety does look like an issue though. Sadly I could still see someone hurting themselves if they fell out the other side. Ifs very scary really. I can understand why its high but still.....the walls do look kinda strange too. But it is an old building thats been sitting empty for a very long time now......
