bill wendtReed Hall is the actual name of this T.S.Kirkbride designed building. This bridge was in daily use, when I (as well as my mother)worked there, in the late 70's and early 80's.

Reed Hall was the main building at the time.
The entrance was flanked by benches,in an almost park like setting.
Most of the "residents" were ambulatory, and strolled the grounds.
I still live less than three miles away.

Dixmont had its own steam-generated electric plant,water treatment, fruit orchards, vegetable gardens. it could have been completely self-sufficient if needed
