My whole family is from Philly, and I was born there. We now reside in Canton, a small town in NE PA. finally go the chance to go *past* Byberry this winter while visiting some relatives. I'd very much like to see the exterior of the buildings close up, which finally brings me to my question: Will security stop you if you're on the grounds looking around? Or do they only stop you when you're *inside* the buildings?

What's REALLY weird is remembering the "crazy lady" who use to wave to me out that window!!! (I can still she her now)

Seeing all these pictures bring back all kinds of memories of spending Sunday afternoons in front of this building, scared to death of the patients walking around outside and women yelling out the windows from the women's section, while my mother was in the men's section visiting my grandfather.

Needless to say, I never met my grandfather he died there, buy seeing these pictures sure stirred up memories of the Bonner building, the "Lady of the hill" church, the "gardens", etc.
Hearing about all the tunnels, etc.

These are beautiful pictures, but the real story will probably never be told. Just stories of what WE remember when we were kids.

Question, where these old wheelchairs still used when the place was shut down?

I finally got to see pilgrim yeay! I was on my way to tanger outlet center in suffolk and my dad noticed a sign that Said Pilgrim Psychaitric center and i started flippin out lol i was goin insane. And then we missed our exit so i got to see pilgrim yeay. i was suprised that it was so close to the damm exit. We were tryin to find our way back to our exit so we were just goin around in cirlces around Pilgrim. I also saw Kings park signs (might sound stupid but im a 15 year old who lives in nassau and i aint goin urban exploring for a while)
