Day Room

I don't think it is a wood floor, it may be the old asbestos or asphalt tiles. I have see them do this over time.

Awesome picture. The shadows do make it.
When looking at this picture it reminds me of them being extremely large microphones, or a super large lollipop.

I was just on the job site today and was informed they may start on Reed Hall this week, and the last building that will come down will be the cafeteria. If you want to go over there you need to see the superintendent. He is pretty cool to deal with. He don't care if your there as long as you let him know, its when you don't let him know that he get a little bent out of shape.
As far as the spirits go I do believe they will stay. I don't remember where I herd it or red it but they will occupy the ground for the time being.

False Exits

Truckie

It's a shame that we live in a throw away society today. People don't care or under stand what these old buildings mean. What we and all people can learn from them. It's a shame we keep throwing our history and past away. At this rate we wont have a past to look back on. Today we build it, use it, let it sit empty for a while, tear it down. Rebuild with a building that will only last a 1/4 of what they tour down. Today's builders are just that builders, back in the day of this place, Danvers, and Dixmont those people were craftsman. They put there heart and soul in to there work and you can see it. Today just slap it together as fast as ya can and move on. It really is sad, and makes me sad and my heart ache.

BustedTrespasser No problem. Apology accepted. I was looking at something on the 2nd floor at the window when you saw me.
The superintendent of the job was there due to the fact that someone earlier in the day stole a dump truck and wrecked it pretty good, and let it roll down a hill and in to a building and fall half way through it. They did something like $20, 000 damage to it.
I know there was a few other workers on the move there that day working up on the hill behind the dining hall. I think what happened was the superintendent saw someone and he told the cops to start to question people because of what had happened.
I have no problem with people exploring buildings as long as there not causing damage to them, or the site that they are on. That is what gets everyone in trouble and the cops involved.
B T the last part of you comment about the messing around with the equipment could not be any truer.
I haul and operate a verity of different equipment for different companies and they all due different thing with there equipment at the end of the day. Some just shut them off and some due a little more creative things with them. I don't want to say because I don't want to give anybody any ideas.
The bottom line is don't mess with the equipment, don't destroy the site or the buildings. If you do get stopped corporate with the people who stopped you. There just doing there job, and if you want to go back make sure you then get permission the whom ever is in charge.

Cyrus No, you are not being rude.
Still a small part of the medical building standing. Not to much work done today. I do know they plan on using explosives to blow the ground, but don't know when. I have not been up back this week and do not know if they started on the cafeteria yet.

The demolition contractor is butting heads with everyone on the job. Its a pretty messy situation right now. The company doing the site work is really cool, grate people to work with.

Hi Twug yes that is or was the room. We will have to find another room now.
Yes, it is a shame to lose the firs mental hospital ever built in this manner. To tell ya the truth it sucks.
Yes, you have one hell of a view from up at the site. I will try to keep ya up to date as much as possible. Did you down load the video and see some of the windows in Reed Hall? It makes me sad to watch it.

Ask and ye shall receive. I just got back from there. I was over there on business.
Well, they have started to tear down the medical building, it is almost all tour down. Just a small part of it is standing, but they still got a lot of clean up to do at that building. They have started to place temporary lighting in the basement of Reed Hall so they can start to remove the asbestos. There is a lot of dirt moving going on now. The cafeteria is still standing.
Here is a web site that will keep you pretty well posted in what is going on, and some really good photos.
There is even a 5 minute video from back in 1996 when all the windows were still in place and the benches were there all. It was beautiful.
Here is the link, let me know what you think.
Thanks

Throw the Switch!

Truckie

Tony C IM not sure about that. But I do know when I was working in a mill on the fire department they told us not to walk to close to some of the switches and big open electric panels because we could get jolted somehow. I will try and find out the answer for ya if someone else don't in the mean time.
