Something straight out of your average fantasy novel, I'm sure. I agree--I'd love a wallpaper making use of it.

Normally, I'd frown upon something like this - writing on the walls of an abandoned building, that is. I must make an exception here, though; it's just too beautiful.

The leaves look so alive when paired with the blandness of the walls and window. I love the colours here.

I must say, I think that this gallery holds claim to some of the best photos on the site. Just brilliant - and what better finish than a creepily simple painting of a clown on a door?

That image has a definite sense of foreboding about it - especially the "eyes."

I wonder if there was a reason that the sets of chairs are differently coloured - perhaps some were for staff, or some for particularly "troublesome" patients.

I love how, at first, you only see the lonely chair in the foreground - and then you see the other lonely chair, leaning against the wall in the other room. It adds to the melancholy of the shot, I think - because they are both so close to no longer being LONELY chairs. So close, yet so far ...

This appears to have been written out by a patient rather than a staff member - and I'm very curious to know just what "sheltered workshop" is.

I love how everything would appear to be symmetrical at first - and then it's ruined by the "No Smoking" notice and the patterns created by peeling paint.

This shot makes me think of some poor soul admitted to an insane asylum for clinging to some part of their childhood - and, eventually, having to let go, though not before they're long gone. It's so fun to let the imagination run wild with your photos, Motts.

Were I there in real life, I wouldn't be able to look at that window for too long - it seems very much as though the face of someone trapped inside might pop up at any moment.

That bird's head, from this angle, seems detached from its body. Creepy.

Both of the lights look somewhat alien - very foreboding, yes, and eerie.

I would like very much to be able to run my hand over the peeling paint in that room.

Freed of its cushion, that bed(?) has an unsettling resemblance to a cheese grater - not a pleasant thought by any means.

Are the cylindrical objects laid out along the hallway garbage cans or something else?

That's almost as interesting as the room full of paper - though, in some way, it makes more sense to stuff spare mattresses and car seats in an empty room than thousands of papers.

It looks as though the cardboard pieces are cut in the shape of balloons - I wonder if anything was attached to them, or if they were a part of a larger theme on the wall?

Rather than the light against the wall, my eyes are drawn to the peeling paint on the walls and door. The patterns they make, and the fact that the peeled paint on the door just kind of dangles there, are beautiful in their way.

I can't decide exactly what those objects on the right-hand side of the photo are - they're sort of like a strange lamp-hair dryer hybrid.

I'm in love with the unusual texture of the peeling paint - mostly, it's only cracked, but sections of paint stick up and/or out, breaking up the monotony. That's great.

The contrast of the symmetric criss-crossing wires against the spontaneity of the peeling paint is a bit stunning. And once the viewer is past that, the seeming endlessness of the hallway is equally intriguing. Perfect.

I'll be honest - I'm a sucker for light coming into an otherwise dark room through a window or door. Even barring that, though, this is a wonderful shot as always.

Indeed, this picture is quite simple - but it's beautiful in its simplicity. The light coming through the door is perfect.

Euch. Those windows are so tiny - I imagine those would be enough to drive the patients insane!
