Casket Rack

"So good, you'd swear Granny's goodness was baked right in...."

...sorry, it begged to be done. Nice coloring on the bricks and the rusty metal.

Guardian of the Gate

This shot and the one before remind me of an excerpt from Mozart's Requiem:

Requiem aeternam dona eis, Domine, et lux perpetua luceat eis, cum sanetis tuis in aeternum, quia pius es.

(Grant them [the dead] eternal rest, O Lord, and may perpetual light shine on them, with Thy saints for ever, because Thou are merciful.)

Rusting Casket

What a great shot and unique find! Bravo Motts, bravo! Given the crapload of legal trouble you can get in for leaving somone's remains in something like this and it not being properly buried/entombed, I'm certain that no one is home. My guess: that casket was defective in some way and so it was left behind. It might also be a steel vault that a casket might have been put into pre-interment. It's hard to make out the dimensions of the thing.

It makes you want to run your hand along the surface. Such amazing coloring.

That had to be an eerie find for you Motts.

Hilltop

Good capture of depth. It really does make the place look bigger.

Old Stones

Tiberivs

That one looks like it was made from cement. It's speckled with so many shades of black and white.

Sickly Green

Tiberivs

Right you are, Alex. Although not all cemeteries put the concrete slabs down under the markers as they can often make digging of graves and regular maintenance difficult. Raising and leveling markers was a pretty common task when I worked in a cemetery. But back to the picture...I'm curious if Motts used a filter on this or if he played with the color channels...or both.

Big Sky

High quality stainless steel is expensive, but I'm betting that it's cheaper than marble or granite. But even stainless steel will corrode given time and the elements. In this picture though, it really looks like the marker is made of stone. It's so sad to see a cemetery that neglected.

Patient Number 124

Tiberivs

If they were looking to save money and keep the anonymity, I wonder why they didn't make arrangements to have the decedents cremated.

Could it be some different type of autoclave?

Small Stairwell

Tiberivs

There's a lot of white light; something a little unusual in these kinds of shots. Is the stairwell really like that or Is this b/w or infrared at all?

Red and Blue

You wouldn't think that old pealing paint would make such a great shot. Bravo Motts.

Dishwasher

Tiberivs

Okay, I know it's a dishwasher, but at first glance I thought...crematory. Sorry, just my morbid side talking out of turn.

Nice colors. It would be interesting to see another pic of this in a few years. I bet that vine will make itself quite at home.

Manhole

It took me a brief moment to realize that was a man coming out of there. I like the lighting effects in particular.

Morgue

Tiberivs

I have to say that the graffiti makes me sad. Especially in a place where a certain amount of respect and dignity should always exist...like a morgue. That's why I like what Motts does-taking pictures of humanity's leftovers being reclaimed by nature and telling the stories that are all but forgotten- that is a beautiful thing. The only thing he leaves behind are his footprints in the dust. Time and nature are left to their devices.

Apparently there's a bit of a leak. Looks like a couple inches of water on the floor?

Top of the Chute

Tiberivs

The contrast between the colorful pipes on the ceiling and the drab of the rest of the photo made me do a double-take as it almost looked doctored. But that's not Motts's style. Upon a second look, I realized that the whole picture is indeed in color. :-p
