How sad to see Mt. Vesuvius this way. When I was young, it seemed sooo big... And Mr Toot (was that the name?) the boat that took you out there. I burned my thigh on one of those slides, and I still wanted to go back for more!
Wow. I have a photo of myself, my brother, two cousins and our grandmother (now deceased) standing in this very spot. Kinda depressing now, but you're right - those bricks look exactly like they did thirty-four years ago. Still kinda creepy now, but thanks for the shot!
Thanks for the pics - pity about the downfall of this place. I remember it as the only theme park my family could afford when I was eight. I didn't even get to WDW until I was almost 30, and I still have fond memories of looking through the "tree" at Alice hanging in mid-fall... and I couldn't wait to get into a teacup and ride into the tunnel so I could look up and see Alice above me. Makes me think that's where my interest in caving began... Thanks!
