This is a very touching scene. its looks as if they were friends, and Abram Hewitt's friend tried to keep his friens up while he departed.

This ship surved a very purposeful life and so i guess it needs to let other ships in on the glory of that.

It's like it knew it reached its prime and just gave up and started to slowly lay to rest.
