138 Courtyard

Richard Davies

I can at least one widow bricked up.

In England at one time there was a window tax that lead to some home owners filling in their windows, & never put them back after the tax was lifted.

There's on old lodge house near to me that has a few of these.

Attic Electronics

Richard Davies

I guess this was let behind because the same function can be done on a much smaller board with just a few chips.

Padlock

Richard Davies

Isn't a pad lock one with a lockable loop?rather than one fixed to a door, like this example.

Arch

Richard Davies

It looks like something electrical was removed from the wall on the left.

The tools look like that had come from my old friend's Dad's shed. He seemed to have gained a lot of old tools from reletives over the years.

Light Patterns

The thing on the wall looks like an burgular alarm box, possibly linked to a panic button.

Heaven and Hell

Richard Davies

The decorations at the bottom of the arch have been removed.

I guess they were too easy for someone to knock over.

The dado rails have also gone in time.

Enter

Richard Davies

It looks the the high mounted tank was to flush out the sink below, which I guess was for washing surgical equipment.

Emergency Lighting

Richard Davies

Where the batteries like car batteries? If so it wouldn't be a good idea to mess with them because of the acid inside.

I thought this was an upright massage table when I first saw it!

Sink

Richard Davies

I think you can still get sinks with seperate hot and cold taps. My house has one that was fitted in the late 1980s.

The waste pipe doesn't have a U bend, unless it's under the floor.

Desk

Richard Davies

I always need to lie on a couch when having blood removed, because I faint easily & would keel over otherwise.

Padded Chair

Richard Davies

It looks like someone removed a phone from the wall behind.

Stairwell

Richard Davies

A first I thought this was all sand from a tipped over fire bucket.

Back of Wooden Wheelchair

Richard Davies

It's interesting that these older chairs have the castoring wheels at the back.

I wonder why they are on the front on newer ones.

It's interesting how many places like his have pianos left behind in them.

Accorinding the the Wikipedia:

"The name gurney comes from its similarity to a horse-drawn cab patented in the USA in 1883 by J. Theodore Gurney. "

I've only known these as Kidney Bowls.

Check out the Red Dwarf episode Polymorth for a good example of using them to serve food in.

Bed Tag

It might help when planning numbers for chapel services.

Normally chapels would be too small for all patients to attend one service, so a few spread over a Sunday split by denomiation would make things more manageable.
